Islam
Followers of Islam are called Muslim. Muslims believe in the Five Pillars. The Five Pillars are Shahadah, prayer, Zakah, Sawm, and Hajj. Shahadah is the belief that there is only one god. They pray five times a day. Zakah is giving 2.5% of their earnings to the poor. Sawm is fasting (no eating or drinking) for a certain amount of time. Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca. Muslims practice the Qur'an (their holy book). They also practice the Sunnah. The Sunnah is the book that says how Muslims should live. Muslims worship in Mosques. Imams are the worship leaders. The Qur'an is the holy book of Islam. Ramadan is a time where Muslims fast for thirty days. Eid al-Fitr,is a holiday after Ramadan ends. They wear new clothes and do special celebrations. Another holiday is Eid al-Adha, a festival after Hajj. They sacrifice animals at Eid al-Adha. Mecca is a holy place for Muslims. Muslims go to pray and worship for Hajj at least once in their life.
