Special Awards
Congratulations to those students who earned a PBIS sticker this week for good behavior. Stephen was awarded the weekly Art Award in art class! Also, our entire class received positive reports from each specials teacher the entire week. Congratulations!
Happy Birthday!
We do not have any birthdays until March.
What we are learning in Room 12...
This is the area of the weekly newsletter where parents/guardians can be informed of what is planned for our week. If your child is going to be absent, please let me know in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - Students are already devouring information about fractions - they are really catching onto this unit quickly! We use songs and fun websites to learn about fractions.
- Reading - Every Tuesday from now until the AIR test in April will become "Test-Prep Tuesday" and we'll learn how to read passages and answer questions on the test. We will start researching biographies soon about people important to Black History Month. Your child is to choose one person, and he/she can bring in books from the library to research with if they'd like to.
- Writing/Spelling - Spelling words are focused on the "irregular plurals," such as mouse becomes mice. There is a test on Friday. In writing class, we will present our informational books and will start opinion writing next week.
- Social Studies - We have started learning about Tallmadge History and also what it was like to live in the 1700s/1800s. This will be a short unit, as we have already studied it on our field trip back in November, too.
Our class has been begging for an 11s song to go with our 2s to 10s songs. I finally found one!
