About My Family

Bill and I will be married for 18 years this January.

We have two pretty cool kids. Alexis is a junior this year at OCHS (I can’t believe it!)

Kylie is a 7th grader at EOMS. That’s it, it’s just the four of us.

And My Animal Family

Oh man! My animal family...my house is a zoo!

We have 3 well-loved dogs. Bella is a German Shepherd/Timber Wolf mix. She is a Daddy’s Girl. She weighs 97 lbs and thinks she’s a lap dog! We bred her with our Husky Sam ( he’s no longer with us.) From that she had a litter of 7 puppies. It was hard to let them go so we decided to keep two!

Oh man, I didn’t think that through very well. So that’s were Bandit and Bear come in. Both of them weigh just as much as Bella! It’s a given that when you come to my house part of them is going with you when you leave. FUR!FUR!FUR!

Of course we can’t forget the poor cats. Ciera belongs to Alexis and Dori belongs to Kylie. They were with us long before the dogs were. We have had rabbits, Guinea Pigs, and lizards, but have found cats and dogs are much easier to keep alive!

Other Places, Other Times

I was born and raised in Northwest Ohio. However, Bill and I thought it would be fun to move away from home for a while. So we moved to Valparaiso, Indiana, where Bill actually had gotten a job working for a company in Downtown Chicago. I love it there! Though we only lived there 2 years, it is still one of my favorite places.

Kylie was born there. Of course, after she was born Grandmas and Grandpas wanted us closer, so we packed up and went back to Ohio.

Life Before OCPL

Way before OCPL, I graduated from Oak Harbor High school in Oak Harbor, Ohio in 1993.

From there I went to cosmetology school. I passed my State Boards in 1996, and went to work in a salon. I actually met Bill while I was cutting his hair. It was a whirlwind romance. I met him in October 1997 and we were married in January 1998. We eloped and were married in Pigeon Forge.

After that we had Alexis and from there I became a stay-at-home mom. I stayed home up until March 2013, when I came to work here.

I tried to work little part time jobs when the girls were little, but child care is expensive!! So it was a busy time, but I am glad I was able to stay home.

How I Got Here

In November 2012 Bill came down here for a job interview at Champion Chevrolet. Of course, I was in Florida! He was offered the job a week later.

We came down as a family and checked the town out. We decided this was going to be a good move and made the big decision to leave everyone in Northwest Ohio and move down here.

We moved down here on December 22, 2012. Bill and I left the girls up in Ohio while we moved all of our belongings. We dropped everything in the garage and went back up to Ohio for Christmas. After that we came back down here to start our life here.

It was just the four of us and after Bill went to work and the girls went back to school, I got lonely. I needed something to do, so I filled out an application and here I am! Thank goodness too! I would have gone crazy.

What I Do At The Library

I work at the Children's Desk or the Main Circ Desk. I wait on patrons, check materials in and out, shelve books, offer reader's advisory, and generally try to answer all the questions and fulfill all the requests we get at the desks.

Of Course We Have To Include Books!

I am not a big book reader! GASP! I know, how can anyone work in a library and not read a ton of books?

I did read the Twilight series, and loved it! I also read the Fifty Shades of Grey books and loved them, too! When I was in high school I read more. I loved Danielle Steel's books.

I think I read every one.

I am a sucker for all of Nicholas Sparks' books and movies. My favorite is The Notebook.

I Bet You Didn't Know!

In the 6th grade during gym class, I was hit in the mouth with a 7 iron golf club. That was a Super Fun Day (not). So my right front tooth is my flipper tooth. I wish I had something super interesting to share but sadly that is all I could come up with.

I'd Just Like To Say...

Thanks to Mary M. and Graham for calling me in for an interview and giving me a chance! Without this job the move to Kentucky may not have been good for me. I may have lost my mind!

I love working here, and working in the Children’s Library gives me the baby fixes I need to get through the day! What fun it is!

Thanks, Jenn, for all your hard work. You are truly a delight to work with. We all love your big smile and your enviable ability to let stuff just roll off. Thanks for your ongoing efforts to get us together outside of work.
