We Have a Reading Heart

Love is in the air and this week we will be reading Valentine's Day books during kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade story time this week. During 3rd grade story time we will continue reading January's Sparrow, by Patricia Polacco (the students have really expressed their love for this book). During 2nd grade story time we will be reading Amelia Bedelia's First Valentine by Herman Parish. We will be reading One Zillion Valentines by Frank Modell during 1st grade story time. We will be reading Little Bear's Valentine by Else Holmelund Minarik during kindergarten story time.

On Friday we will see:

3rd Grade Burch and Fox - We are going to dip our toes into the fantasy genre.
2nd Grade Larson and Foster - We will be working on character traits.
Due to 1:00 p.m. dismissal we will not see 1st grade and kindergarten.

We will see Mr. Brummet's and McFargo's classes on Monday and we will See Mrs. Catlin's and Mrs. Galindo's classes on Wednesday for library lessons.

During 4th grade lessons this week we are going to work on how to visualize as we read. Creating pictures in our head and describing what we see by drawing a picture. Visualizing helps build a readers comprehension.

During 5th grade lessons the students will finish their poster and shelf commercial.

I will be at the middle school half days Monday through Thursday. I will be at the middle school Monday and Wednesday afternoon and Tuesday and Thursday morning. Tasha Siemers will be working Monday through Wednesday all day and she will be in the library Friday morning.

I will be working with Mrs. Yenni's class on Wednesday in the library.

We have scheduled class checkouts on Tuesday 6th hour (Mrs. Hallberg), Wednesday 3rd hour through 6th hour (Mrs. Yenni), and Thursday 1st hour through 3rd hour (Mr. DeBauche). During 8th hour on the following days, Monday (Mrs. Blake), Tuesday (Mrs. Hallberg), Wednesday (Mrs. Yenni), and Thursday (Mrs. Roth) the 6th grade language arts classes will be in the library for checkout.
