Principal Newsletter of the Month

Review since last newsletter

Another month has passed and 8 new students have been recognized for their achievements at JLMS. Congratulations goes out to Josstyn Durst, Griffin Powell, Natalie Stilb, Lucas Scheuren, Claire Aspenson, Connor Bramstedt, Reegan McMahon, and Clayton Wiziarde on being named our students of the month.

I want to recognize all students for giving a great effort and showing grit during the Wisconsin Forward Exams. Teachers reported that students were focused and put forth a strong effort on their exams in the 3 weeks leading up to spring break. We will not get results as a district until summer on student performances. When scores do become available, you will be notified as parents of your student's performance.

March always brings madness, but not necessarily related to college basketball. Thank you to Mrs. Mathews for running a 7th grade mammal madness tournament in her science classes. We also want to thanks Mrs. Stweart in the library for running the first ever school wide Tournament of Books. These types of activities helped students and staff stay focused and in a positive state of mind leading up to spring break.

The last highlight before we got to spring break was the Grafton School District art show at BMO Harris bank. Mrs. Satari did a fantastic job selecting and displaying JLMS student work at the show. It was amazing to see the abilities of our students and it is awesome that it is on display for our community to enjoy.

8th Grade Promotion

Can you believe that your student is about to become a high schooler? The annual 8th grade promotion ceremony is Thursday, June 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the JLMS big gym. The promotion ceremony lasts about an hour and is followed by an 8th grade class party at Rockin' Jump in Brown Deer (8:30 - 10:30 p.m.). Students should wear dress clothes to the promotion ceremony.

We also do a class picture prior to the ceremony and details about the picture and time that your student needs to be at school will be coming shortly.

More information about the party at Rockin' Jump will be coming soon. This is the third year that we are doing the class party there and it has been a great hit. The cost will be $20, but this provides your child with 2 hours of jumping and all you can eat pizza and drink. You do need to provide the transportation to and from the facility in Brown Deer. In order to get a jump on registration, please visit the Rockin' Jump website and fill out a waiver for yourself and then add your child. You will need to do this in order for your child to participate in the activities at Rockin' Jump.

Spring MAP Testing

Our final blast of testing for the school year is coming. Students will be participating in the spring MAP testing beginning on Monday, April 29.
