Missouri Superintendents
New Principals Conference, & 20-21 Membership Information
Dear Missouri Superintendents,
We sincerely thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MoASSP). Your dedication to our Association demonstrates your loyalty and underscores your unwavering commitment to advancing school leadership in Missouri.
ROLLING MEMBERSHIP
As MoASSP continues to evolve and adapt to better serve our members, we want to announce some positive changes to our membership structure that will benefit administrators. This school year (23-24), we implemented a rolling membership system, which means that regardless of when administrators join or renew, that date will mark their membership anniversary. This aims to offer administrators greater convenience and flexibility in their engagement with MoASSP.
SCHOOL/DISTRICT MoASSP MEMBERSHIP OPTION
Moreover, we have improved the "SCHOOL/DISTRICT MEMBERSHIP" option, designed to provide even more value to districts and schools. By opting for a SCHOOL/DISTRICT MEMBERSHIP, your district will receive a 10% discount on MoASSP membership dues, provided that all secondary school administrators within the district join MoASSP. This discount doesn’t include Regional or NASSP dues.
Our refurbished website features an easy-to-access SCHOOL/DISTRICT MEMBERSHIP level as part of our membership menu. To take advantage of the 10% MoASSP savings, click the SCHOOL/DISTRICT option and follow a few straightforward steps. District offices can designate a point person to complete the necessary form, or for smaller districts, secondary school administrators themselves can take the initiative to complete the process. To benefit from the SCHOOL/DISTRICT MEMBERSHIP option, please finalize the steps and complete the form by August 31st.
We wanted to ensure that both building and district offices are aware of this new opportunity as we open the 2024-2025 membership year. Even if you represent a smaller district, we encourage you to seize this chance to save 10% on MoASSP membership dues. Our goal is to expand our reach and strengthen our network to include as many secondary school administrators in Missouri as possible.
Thank you once again for your steadfast support of MoASSP. If you have any questions or require further information about our Institutional Membership program, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you,
Clark Mershon
Executive Director, MoASSP
Like many of you, I listened to Governor Parson's phone call yesterday morning and the status of our Missouri budget. I appreciate the honesty and the leadership Governor Parson is providing during these most unusual times.
The superintendent chair has gotten exceedingly more complicated in recent weeks. In conversations with principals around the state, they, too, are shouldering an immense burden and responsibility for their building.
Like you, we were sailing along until mid-March, and then our personal and professional lives were profoundly turned upside down. MoASSP is doing business much differently now than we were doing just eight weeks ago.
We continue to find new ways to connect with our stakeholders, including a virtual Missouri Scholars 100 celebration in late June. We have become Zoom experts, hosting 30 plus regional and state roundtables with principals since mid-March. We are retooling our annual New Principals Conference to be a virtual event over two days. Preparation is underway to deliver professional learning in the most realistic way possible.
Our vision, mission, and core values of MoASSP haven't changed. We are finding creative ways to thrive as we consider the reentry of school in the fall and beyond. MoASSP has been the voice and face of secondary school administrators in Missouri since 1925. With the continued support from Missouri superintendents, we pledge to keep moving forward championing secondary school administrators.
We are gearing up for the 2020-2021 school year. As you know, there are many position changes in the principalship from year to year. You are our best source for personnel moves. Please have whoever deals with personnel records let our office know of principal changes in your district. Send principal changes (name, email address, position) to moassp@moassp.org.
I have included our 2020-2021 membership flyer that describes membership options and benefits. Take a look at the District Membership option. Call Mary (573-445-5071) in our office to inquire. The deadline for District Membership is August 31. Also, for first-time MoASSP members, they will receive a FREE Fall or Spring Conference registration fee.
MoASSP and MAESP have partnered to offer a New Principals Conference scheduled for June 22-23. This year, the conference will be delivered virtually. Once again, this conference is DESE certified.
On behalf of the MoASSP Board of Directors, I would like to thank you for helping us update our records while continuing support of membership in MoASSP and the events we provide.
During difficult times, I am reminded of a phrase that was often heard by my superintendent, whom I had the utmost respect for, Dr. Tom Cummings (North KC Schools). Tom would often say, "This too shall pass."
Respectfully,
Clark Mershon
