Special Message to KSD At-Home Families
KSD Families in Kirkwood K-5 at Home Learning program,
I want to acknowledge the difficult decisions our families have struggled with since the beginning of the school year. Please know that we continue to lead with empathy and understanding as these challenges continue. For those parents who have chosen to have their students remain in a virtual session, we will fulfill our commitment to ensuring the virtual experience remains robust and rigorous. As part of that commitment, we have named an administrator to coordinate efforts.
Dr. Stefanie Limpert has been appointed as the administrator for the Kirkwood K-5 at Home Learning program. She will be the parents' point person for questions regarding online learning. Dr. Limpert has 24 years of experience in education and has been a school leader in the Kirkwood School District for seven years most recently as the assistant principal of Westchester Elementary School. Dr. Limpert is a responsive and compassionate leader and I am fully confident in her ability to lead the Kirkwood K-5 at Home Learning program while partnering with the elementary principals and staff to maintain the vital connection to our students' "home" schools.
Dr. David Ulrich
Superintendent of Schools
Welcome Message from Your at Home Administrator
It is my sincerest pleasure to welcome you to the Kirkwood K-5 at Home Learning program.
The foundation to success begins with close ties and open communication between school and home, and in an online learning environment, it will be as important as ever to keep open lines of communication. What we do as educators to guide, motivate, and educate children can only thrive under the loving commitment you are providing to your children at home.
As an educator of 24 years as both a classroom teacher and school leader, I have a great understanding of the importance of compassion and community. The challenges we have faced in 2020 have highlighted how vital it is that we work together to achieve academic, social and emotional growth for each child. As a leader who strives to help students, staff and families feel supported, I will continue to foster a positive virtual school climate and will encourage collective problem-solving to tackle any obstacles that may come our way.
My commitment to creating an ongoing positive school experience will include keeping you connected to your in-person school, while feeling a sense of community and connection with your new virtual school family. You will continue to receive regular communications from your home school, while also receiving online learning specific information from me through Blackboard Messaging avenues.
Included in this message is the Kirkwood K-5 at Home Learning daily schedule along with a link to our website with frequently asked questions. Class lists will be sent on Monday at noon at the same time in-person class lists are sent to families. As we prepare for our first day together, you will receive information from me and your child’s teacher.
I am very thankful for each of you, and look forward to our time together during online learning where students will be encouraged to work as a team, persevere, and think critically and creatively.
To celebrate our “first day” on October 14th, we will have a school spirit day. Show your Kirkwood pride by wearing your school’s logo, or any other Kirkwood red and white!
Thank you in advance for your support and continued involvement in the education of your child(ren). If you have any questions or concerns any time throughout the course of at home learning, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Together, we can do virtually anything!
Sincerely,
Dr. Stefanie Limpert
