FRESHGRADE
FreshGrade is more than a grading system! It is also a GREAT way to communicate with your child's teacher. You can also leave comments for your child to see if you would like to encourage them and praise their efforts!
Be sure to check FreshGrade regularly to be aware of your child's progress.
Also, look out for announcements in FreshGrade--this will keep you aware of what is happening in Community 3 throughout the week/month.
Go Patriots!
Multiplication Facts
Continue to reinforce fact practice with flashcards, bingo, and multiplication.com.
Your child could also create a multiplication game to play at home or share with the class.
Third grade is the time when children really begin to use multiplication. Your child needs to know how to multiply fluently since it is the base of most of their math practice moving forward.
Lost and Found
We are beginning to have cooler days in the south. Thank you for sending your child with a jacket. Please remember to label your child's outerwear with their name in it. We have a large "lost and found." If your child's name is in their jacket, we can return it to who it belongs it. You might consider adding Community 3 as part of the label as well, in case someone within the school finds your child's jacket or other items (lunchboxes, Thermos's, water bottles, etc.)
Habitat Project
Our Habitat Project is getting very exciting! The learners in each classroom family have gained so much knowledge about the habitats in our area, and they are now working to put it to use. Groups are identifying the parts of our schoolyard and surrounding communities that they want to help. They are devising strategies to preserve and repair the habitats there and are formulating plans to make this happen. Language Arts goals are integrated as groups of learners are writing letters to request permission for these changes and to reach out to members of the Pike Road community for help. The learners are really taking ownership of their ideas and are excited to make a difference in our area. It is so interesting to see each group find the parts of the project that they are passionate about and use their own ideas to guide what the project becomes. These Community 3 learners are creative thinkers!
