Susan Hatfield, Ph.D. -FPA Coordinator
Please join me in welcoming Susan as our new PreK-12 FPA Coordinator. Susan starts tomorrow. Although her area of focus will be music education she will be a support to all the arts in the district. As you can imagine Susan will have a pretty hefty lift as she gets acclimated to Framingham and you. We will spend most of this week showing her the central office ropes and maybe getting around to a few of the music teachers to say hi. After that you can fully expect to see her in your classrooms every day.
Susan has served as an arts education program administrator, professional development leader for music educators, school music teacher, and teacher educator for aspiring and in-service music teachers. Those experiences all have required that she quickly establish positive relationships with numerous stakeholders, both in and beyond her immediate work environments. This valuable skill is one she hopes to bring to Framingham. Susan is a graduate of UMass Amherst and Temple University.
Welcome to Framingham Susan!

Bystander 9/11- A Play by Meron Langsner
If you missed the performance I am including the link to the broadcast. It is well worth the 42 minute watch.
Thank you to the cast, crew and community.
Covid restrictions and arts education- PPE is on order.
It may take us some time to get everything in. Please be patient. I am confident Susan will be able to provide some resources to you to use in your classroom while we wait for the supplies to arrive.
In addition we WILL be teaching recorder this year. On the advice of some music teachers (and with Bob's endorsement) we will provide clarinet masks for your students. Your principals are aware and as always if you can get your kids outside please do.
Good Morning, Donna!
At this time we are not imposing any physical distancing requirements, though creating as much space as possible between students and staff, whenever possible, is a reasonable best practice.
It is important, however, that staff recognize that mask guidance may differ from district to district. Our district position on masking remains that all students and staff will be masked while indoors until further notice. Instrumentalists will play with appropriate masks and bell coverings attached and students will sing indoors with masks on. Please encourage departmental staff to create as much physical space as possible for rehearsals and performances.
This will need to be communicated broadly as a reminder to the FPS community at some point in the very near future along with any other relevant updates. I have added others to this email as we think about our next COVID communication.
Please let me know if additional information or clarification is needed.
Thanks!
Bob
Take aways:
Distance as much as you can
We will provide masks and bell covers only.
Get outdoors if you can for as long as you can.

I have already seen her in action in her classroom several times and she is doing GREAT work.
