A young girl came in and asked if he was selling ant taffy. Mr. Bradley jokingly offered her "salt water taffy". After sampling a piece, the young girl proudly purchased the candy and went and showed all of her friends and when people overheard about it they had to try it.
How was it first made?
It was first cooked in copper kettles over open coal fires, cooled on marble slabs, and pulled on a large hook on the wall.
