Change of SDC program @ Glenview in the Fall
We will be welcoming a new mild/moderate special day class serving Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
Hearts (Culture & Climate)
Transitioning to Summer....be mindful!
This is particularly true for students who have experienced trauma in their lives. Not all students know what summer holds for them or even if they will return to Glenview in the Fall.
You can help ease this transition by:
1) Keeping routines in place the next few weeks
2) Allow for structured playtime and organized fun.
3) Build in transition rituals and time to reflect on the year and what we looking forward to next year
4) Understand that acting out, conflicts or "big feelings" this time of year can be ways that children tell us they are coping with uncertainty in different ways that may require increased patience, listening, and breathing.
Positive Incentives to get through the Wiggly last Weeks!
This may just be free choice for 15 min at the end of the day, 15 min of chromebook time, playing some class games (check out that Playworks binder).
A little positive planning can help make these last weeks more fun especially for you!
So Many Goodbyes!
Saying Goodbye….
These last few weeks will be full of goodbyes to many staff members and, of course, to our 5th grade students.
Mr. Wolfe, our fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Lewis, our art teacher, and Mrs. Warren, our administrative assistant, will be retiring after many years in Oakland Unified.
Ms. Jennifer Brouhard, our fifth grade teacher, will be transitioning to another OUSD school and taking on a new role. Ms. Regalado, our technology teacher, departs to begin graduate school. Ms. Melissa Leung, our school psychologist, will be transitioning to a new position in another district. Our Special Education Day class program will be changing locations so we bid farewell to Ms. Dorit, Ms. Gums, Ms. Trisby, Ms. Reeshemah, Ms. Sue, and Nurse Susan.
And we just found out this week that Jean Zika will be placed at another site for the 2018-19 school year.
This is a lot of change for our little community! It will be hard to say goodbye, but we are so grateful for the dedication of these educators and colleagues.
