Triton Times
Eastlake Middle School 11.05.2018
Everything pumpkin is a full go. From coffee to yogurt, get your pumpkin fix! Holiday songs and lights are forthcoming. Prepare yourself. We had an awesome week for our community from Compact for Success to Dia De Los Muertos to the Fall Festival. We all showed that mighty Triton Spirit. Before you know it, it will be Turkey time. In the meantime, items to consider for this week:
Veteran's Day! We will celebrate our Vets on Wednesday, November 14. If you are a vet or current military personnel, we invite you to stop by the front gates before school. You will have special access to the front circle. Enjoy donuts, coffee and a bunch of awesome staff members appreciating you! Also... if you would be so kind to send me your name, rank, military connection and picture, I would like to include you in a video message. Please send to ricardo.cooke@sweetwaterschools.org
Coffee with the Principal. There is no Coffee with the Principal November 13th. We will have another one on December 11th, but please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns
Playoffs! Our students rock. Here is the updated playoff schedule. Come join us...
Saturday (11/3): Baseball @ Eastlake HS (10:00 AM)
Saturday (11/3): Cross Country @ Olympian HS (9:00 AM)
Game of Throws. Check out some awesome catapults and trebuchets! The Games start at 9:00 with Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister making a guest appearance! Just kidding... However, we do have our local heroes from the CV Fire Department dropping a 150 pound pumpkin.
As always, Go Tritons! If you have something that you would like me to share in the Triton Times, please let me know.
Gratitude (Triton Trait of the Month!)
For the months of November & December we will be focusing on Gratitude, or appreciating what you are given.
When you feel gratitude, you feel a sense of abundance. When you express gratitude—especially when it’s heartfelt—you strengthen your relationships with others. Grateful people are happier and more fulfilled. And gratitude leads you to be nicer to other people: more cooperative, patient, and trusting.
For the months of November & December, we encourage gratitude in others. You can model it for others by talking about the good things that happen to you and reframing difficulties by highlighting positive aspects.
"I love this absolutely stunning sunset!"
"This week has been really challenging and stressful, but I am grateful to have support coworkers."
Be sure to celebrate gratitude as well. Consider dropping quick thank you notes on desks (for both students and fellow staff members). And be sure to nominate students for Triton of the Week who exemplify the Triton Trait of the Month: Gratitude

Parents and Guardians: Please limit lunch drop-offs to your student only and please be prepared to wait for your student to get to the front office. It's difficult to monitor the food when it is dropped off and still attend to job duties. Also, we advise you to monitor your students' bike gear and talk to them about safety. Many are not wearing helmets. We have also advised students about riding safely in the neighborhood especially before and after school. Also, as drivers, please be mindful of traffic regulations especially making the illegal u-turn in front of the school. Thanks again for your support!
