Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6 to May 10! Show your appreciation by donating a gift card to our PTSA drawing! The recommended amount is $25, but $10 or over is appreciated. Drop the card off at the front office by Wednesday, May 1. You can also Venmo at https://www.venmo.com/u/RBHSPTSA. Please specify “gift card drawing.” If you can't participate, consider a handwritten note of thanks to a teacher! Our teachers cherish these.
A+ Summer Hours
Attention A+ students: summer is a great time to earn service hours. To sign up for a summer placement, go to the Rock Bridge A+ Program class in Schoology and complete the Summer 2024 application. For example, you can earn all 50 hours in 8 days if you are available to work in an elementary school during the summer school session. See Mrs. Geyer (tgeyer@cpsk12.org) or Dr. Alexander (joalexander@cpsk12.org) with questions.
End of Course (EOC) Exams
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Your student may be participating in the upcoming Missouri Assessment Program End-of-Course Assessments (EOC). Designed to measure academic progress and proficiency, these standardized assessments are administered to students taking Algebra 1, Biology, English II, Government and in some cases, Algebra II.
The End-of-Course Assessments evaluate student progress toward the Missouri Learning Standards. Missouri Learning Standards define the knowledge and skills students need to each grade level and course for success in college, careers, and other post-secondary training. These expectations are aligned to the Show-Me Standards, which define what Missouri High School graduates should know and be able to do. For more information about the standards please see their website at https://dese.mo.gov/college-career-readiness/curriculum/mls-for-parents
The results of the EOC are used to identify areas of strength and growth for each student and to provide information to help guide the instruction and curriculum in classrooms. In addition, the results are used to create a school and district accountability report published by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
Typically, the students who take these exams are Freshman and Sophomores, however, depending on your student's situation they may be asked to take these exams. Examples of reasons they may be asked to take the exams may include, but are not limited to:
- Transferred into RBHS and are currently enrolled in one of the tested content areas
- Algebra II - Freshman taking Alg. 2, upperclassmen who did not take the Alg. 1 EOC and currently enrolled in Alg. 2,
- Students who missed their EOC the year they took the class being tested
The state requires schools to administer EOC exams for all students prior to graduation. It is important that your child be present at school to take these exams if possible, or that they attend during the make-up dates.
If your student misses their scheduled exam, please contact me as soon as possible by emailing Katie Patton at capatton@cpsk12.org so we can coordinate a good time to make up the exam missed. We may also pull your student in during study hall, advisory, or AUTs to take any missed exams.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued support regarding your child’s path toward graduation and continued learning.
Thank you,
Katie Patton
Assistant Principal
