School Day time changes & Distance Learning Option 2021-22
Good Morning Ben Franklin Parents and Guardians!
Start and End Times Changing for the 2021-22 School Year
Fargo Public Schools (FPS) is modifying the start time and end time of all schools for the 2021-22 school year. This change aligns bus routes district-wide to accommodate the time needed to transport students, provides for supervision of students in the morning and afterschool, and meets contractual obligations with FPS teaching staff. You will receive a mailed notification and an email of bus schedule pickup up and drop off times and locations the week of August 16, 2021.
As you can see from the following schedule, Ben Franklin start and end times have been pushed back by five minutes.
Students may enter the building at 8:00 am.
COVID-19 Related Distance Learning
Fargo Public Schools (FPS) will be offering a COVID-19 related distance learning option for students and families for the 2021-22 school year. This will be a different model for distance learning for elementary and middle school students than what was utilized during the 2020-21 school year and be similar to the model utilized during 2020-21 for high school students. The lessons are asynchronous lessons, meaning that students can access them at any time on their device.
• Elementary students will be enrolled in Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Art, Technology and Physical Education/Health.
• Middle School students will be enrolled in Math, Science, Social Studies, English and one elective course.
o Once the student successfully completes the elective course, they will be enrolled in a new NDCDE elective course.
• High School students will be enrolled in up to four classes at one time.
o Once a student successfully completes a course, they will be enrolled in a new NDCDE course.
• Deadline to apply for Virtual Academy is Friday, September 10, 2021
o After September 10, 2021, the form may be submitted and approved depending on availability.
