The Latest Market Watch
April 2014 -- Toronto Real Estate Board President Dianne Usher announced that Greater Toronto Area REALTORS® reported strong year-over-year increases in TorontoMLS home sales and the average selling price in March 2014. Home ownership affordability, backstopped by low borrowing costs, continued to be a key factor underlying this growth.
A total of 8,081 sales were reported in March 2014 – up by 7.2 per cent in comparison to March 2013. Sales growth was much stronger in March compared to the first two months of the first quarter. Sales for Q1 as a whole were up by three per cent compared to the first three months of 2013.

Spring is Here and so are Door to Door "Energy Savers" .. Some Advice
The “warning sign” statements that they make may be any combination of the following:
- We are here from your utility / current water heater provider / local municipality.
- New regulations mean you have to replace the venting system on your water heater for safety reasons.
- Your current water heater is full of sludge (they may even show you a jar of silt-filled water).
- Your current water heater is not energy efficient.
Regardless of what service is being provided the best way to deal with someone who shows up on your doorstep is to ask what company they work for and request identification to support this. If you are interested in renting a water heater it is best to let them know that you will look at the company website and call for a scheduled appointment. These door-to-door agents are paid a flat fee for each contract they sign up and, because they have a low closing rate, they may become pushy or insist on coming into your home; this is often an instant indicator of an unreliable company. Remember, if you let someone enter your home it can be highly unpleasant to get them out again.

TLP Three Little Pigs (or TLP for short),
This Elm Street sandwich shop from the same team as the adjacent Barberian's Steakhouse still has us licking our chops in anticipation. The menu will feature generous helpings of homestyle Canadian comfort foods in A-grade steakhouse style. Think meatloaf, fried baloney and peameal sandwiches. More....
Brooklyn Tavern
As you know my favourite eatery is the Brooklyn Tavern in Leslieville. Well, they just opened a fabulous patio. So go and enjoy the outdoor patio and have a cool one and great meal.
Our Kentucky Derby Tips
Our resident handicapper likes three horses for the upcoming , May 3, KENTUCKY DERBY, California Chrome, Wicked Strong and Saamrat. This year's Kentucky Derby has no outstanding stars so it may be a good year to find a longshot. The three horses that we like are probably going to be the main contenders but this is a good year to bet your favorite name or number.
Celebrate Derby Day with the Mint Julep, a classic bourbon refresher.
Ingredients in the Mint Julep Cocktail
Garnish: Bitters (optional) and mint sprig
Glass: Julep or rocks
In a Julep cup or rocks glass, lightly muddle the mint and syrup. Add the bourbon and pack tightly with crushed ice. Stir until the cup is frosted on the outside. Top with more crushed ice to form an ice dome and garnish with a few drops of bitters, if desired, and a mint sprig. Cheers!
