MUSTANGS ADVOCATE FOR THE BIKE BUS BILL

We're very proud to share that two of our own mustangs; 1st grader Eliza and Mr. Shawne Martinez advocated for HB 3014 in front of the Oregon House Committee on Education! HB 3014 is also known as the Bike Bus bill which aims to enact school transportation reform. You may know Mr. Shawne and Eliza because they lead our bike bus every Wednesday at 7:30 from Metzger Park. You can read more about the hearing here.

METZGER LOVES READING!

On Thursday, classes in grades 3-5 paired up with younger classes to buddy read! Students were able to read together and help the younger kids feel comfortable reading out loud.

Reading at home is one of the best ways to support your student(s) as they learn to read. Read at home for 15-20 minutes each night, record your reading on our Metzger Reading Log attached below or on a reading log provided by your teacher, then return the completed reading log to your classroom teacher.

Need books??? We have books to share thanks to our Amazing PSO! Please reach out to Joyce Haner or Jesabel Centeno if you need books to read at home.

SPRING BOOK FAIR IS HERE!

DENTAL 3 SERVICES COMING IN MARCH - PERMISSION SLIP DUE ON MARCH 10TH

Dental3 will be providing free dental screenings, sealants, and fluoride at your child’s school in the week of March 13th. Healthy teeth are important to your child’s overall health. A dental screening is a quick look inside your child’s mouth to check the overall health of their teeth. Dental sealants are protective coatings put on the back teeth to prevent cavities and fluoride is a vitamin that is brushed on the teeth to make teeth stronger and prevent cavities. Click this link to sign the permission form for your child online.

5TH GRADE LEADERS GOT A MIDDLE SCHOOL SNEAK PEAK

This week our 5th grade leadership groups had two special guests visit. Mr. Tim Gross, former Hazelbrook Middle School Principal (and current district administrator), and his daughter Kara Gross, current 7th grader at Fowler. These special guests joined us to talk about middle school and particularly what leadership looks like at Fowler. Our 5th grade leaders were amazing audience members and asked great questions.

CONGRATULATIONS JOSE!

Please help us congratulate our amazing Jose Gonzalez Trujillo, who received the Metzger Classified Employee of the Year award! Jose is an incredible staff member and friend to all of us at Metzger. Jose works so hard to elevate our school building and grounds everyday, and we value and appreciate all that he does for our staff, students, and families.

IS YOUR STUDENT TOO SICK FOR SCHOOL? & HELPFUL GUIDELINES

We understand it's a difficult battle of keeping children home when they're sick and knowing when to send them in. Attendance and health both matter and it's an important balance to upkeep. Please see below for a helpful guideline from Every Day Matters and click the button below for important guidance from the district for when students can return to school after an illness.
