Lucy's Library Blast
February 8, 2016
Circulation Stats
Not only have check in/check out stats gone through the roof, Limitless Libraries use has doubled as well. Thank you so much to the teachers who are letting their kids come to the library when they need to and for those of you who have set up a schedule. You are awesome and your test scores should reflect your awesomeness.
Teachers, the library is not a repository for supplies, whether from the Maker Space or headphones. Please DO NOT help yourself to things from the library.
Free Cool Online Tools:
Touchcast
TouchCast creates an interactive presentation that mixes video with web content. The app lets you record a video and overlay elements such as web pages, maps, photos, Twitter streams, polls, quizzes and more. Users watching the video can click on these multimedia elements and interact with them while the video continues to play. http://www.appsinclass.com/touch-cast.html
Nearpod
Nearpod allows teachers to construct presentations using the Nearpod website and deliver instruction to students by pushing content out to multiple devices at once. The teacher controls the presentation from a master iOS device, while students follow along on a class set of iPods or iPads. To enliven instruction, teachers can also embed multiple choice questions, polls, videos, quizzes, open-ended questions, and web-links in their presentations. http://www.nearpod.com/
Knowmia
Features short video lessons from teacher from around the world. This is a website and an iPad app that allows for creating, sharing and viewing video lessons. The Knowmia Teach app seems to have far more creation options than the similar Showme and Educreations apps. You can draw free-hand on the whiteboard screen, type on the whiteboard screen, and insert pre-made shapes and figures. You can also use pictures and video clips in your video lesson. http://www.appsinclass.com/knomia-teach.html
