Your Weekly Eagle Update, 2021-2022 School Year

Dr. Lew's Message..............

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! My name is Diane Lew and I am the new principal of Imperial Elementary School. I am so honored to be part of such a dedicated and collaborative community!

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I have been with the Orange Unified School District for 14 years. For the last five years, I served as principal of Cambridge Elementary School. Prior to that assignment, I was one of the Orange Unified School District’s special education coordinators. Before moving into administration, I worked as an education specialist in both SDC and Inclusive Schooling programs. I also have experience as an elementary and middle school general education teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District. I hold a bachelor’s degree in physical education from San Francisco State University, a master’s degree in educational administration from National University, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from San Diego State University. I have a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, an Education Specialist Instructional Credential for Mild to Moderate Disabilities, as well as an Administrative Services Credential.

On a personal note, I have been married for seventeen years and have a 10-year old son going into 5th grade and an eleven-year old daughter going into 6th grade. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, camping, going to Disneyland, and relaxing at the beach.

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and getting to know your incredible children throughout the school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at dlew@orangeusd.org or (714) 997-6282.

Very Sincerely,

Diane Lew, Ed.D.

* I will be sending out weekly newsletters each Friday with updated information. Please be sure to read through this entire newsletter for important information about the beginning of the school year.

Beginning of the Year Details:

We can't wait to welcome our students back to school on Wednesday, August 18th! Please be sure to visit our school website for schedules, supply lists, and the latest information at https://www.orangeusd.org/imperial-elementary-school.

Here is the 2021-2022 bell schedule:

2021-2022 Bell Schedule

Drop-off/Pick-up: Here is some specific information about drop off/pick-up procedures so that you and your child can be comfortable and prepared on the first day of school. For those of you who attended Imperial last year, our procedures will look very familiar to you. In a nutshell, drop-off and pick-up of students in grades TK through six will occur in front of the school at their designated time. Staff members will be standing in front of school for the first few days with signs so students will know where to go to meet their teacher. Please arrive only at your child's designated drop-off/pick-up times. Parents that are waiting for students in other grade levels will be asked to move and return at their designated time. Therefore, it would be best for parents to drop off and pick-up at their oldest child's designated times.

Line-up: At the beginning of the year, teachers with classroom signs will designate where the class should line-up until students remember their designated area on the playground. On the first day of school, students can look for their classroom sign on the playground and meet their teacher there. We will also have plenty of staff members available to help ensure that everyone gets where they need to go.

Teacher Assignments: You can learn who your child's teacher is by accessing your parent portal. The teacher assignments will be released at 4:00pm on Tuesday, August 17th.
