2nd Grade Reminders:
- Forms: If you have not already, please make sure you return all of your important forms, including your parent/student handbook from the front of your agenda.
- Daily Behavior: Each day your student is coloring their behavior in their student agenda. Please make sure you are checking your child's agenda each evening to see how their day went! If your child was not on green, they will also have a note explaining the behavior troubles for the day. Please sign the note and return if they were not on green.
- Arrival: This is a friendly reminder that students in grades Pre-K through 4th grade, begin their school day at 7:45AM. Please plan to have your child to school daily by 7:40AM to ensure your child is in class by the bell for 1st period. Students that arrive after 7:45AM will be asked to get their late pass from the front office. Students that arrive to school prior to 7:30AM will report to the cafeteria. At 7:30AM, all students are dismissed to their homeroom class.
- Homework Packets: 2nd Grade homework packets will be sent home on Fridays in your child's take-home folder. Students will always have one week to complete and return their finished homework packet. We will be going over this in more detail during curriculum night on August 29th. You should expect to see your child's first formal homework packet come home on Friday, September 1st after curriculum night.
- FSA Connect: You should have received your FSA Connect login and password information from Mr. Parlak earlier this week. If you have not, please email yparlak@fultonscienceacademy.org to let him know. You should see that I have uploaded a few assignments for different subject areas. This is where you will access your child's grades and/or important information for your child's class!
- Dietary Needs: Please be mindful that many students in 2nd grade have peanut/nut allergies. In order to keep all of our students safe, bringing nuts for lunch or snack is strongly discouraged. However, if a nut item will be sent to school with your child, please notify your teacher in advance.
MAP Assessments Begin This Week
We will be taking our first MAP test of the year beginning on Tuesday. In order to make this testing experience a positive one for our 2nd graders, I wanted to send out a few reminders to help make this testing week go as smoothly as possible!
TESTING TIPS :
1. Please have your child go to bed early and eat a substantial breakfast!2. Get to school by 7:30! Feeling rushed does not prepare students for success!
3. Encourage your child to think positively and take their time! Too much pressure is stressful for young children!
4. Please remind students to NEVER discuss scores with other students. This can negatively effect other students.
Ending our week with the Dancing Raisins Experiment!

Solar Eclipse Viewing at FSA
We have ordered CE and ISO certified glasses for all of our students and faculty members to safely view the eclipse. We are also planning lessons about the eclipse into our classroom instruction! It will be a very exciting day for our 2nd graders.
Please be informed that because of the timing of the eclipse, our first dismissal is delayed 45 minutes and it will be at 3:30 p.m on August 21st.
PLEASE take a moment to talk with your child at home about the important of following directions on Monday for this event to ensure all of our students stay safe!
Stay Connected with Our Class!

Uniform Reminder
I am seeing a few uniform issues in our classroom. Please make sure you read through the uniform policy carefully to ensure your child is following the school dress code each day.
Please also make sure that on the day your child has P.E. that they are wearing school dress code SNEAKERS/TENNIS SHOES for P.E.
Home Visit Program
Home visits are a casual way for your child to spend time with his/her teacher in the comfort of their home. Teachers enjoy having a chance to see children in this comfortable environment, doing whatever makes them most happy and spend time with children and their parents outside of a regular school day.
Simply email junal@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Ms. Unal will be in touch to confirm final details.
Please note: the best times to schedule a home visit are weekdays after 5:00pm.
