Uranuim is a non-renewable resource. Uranium is the fuel most widely used by nuclear plants for nuclear fission. Uranium is a very heavy metal which can be used as an abundant source of concentrated energy. It was discovered in 1789 by Martin Klaproth. Uranium has a melting point of 1132°C. The chemical symbol for uranium is U. Uranium can be found as part of a lot of different minerals such as uranite. Uranium can be found on earth, but it has to go through a factory to be used. Scientists use uranium for many reasons. Uranium - powers nuclear power plants - makes electricity - is used in radioactive dating - used in nuclear fission.
The cost for uranium is not made public because it's illegal to buy. Uranium is extremely rare. But to give you an idea of the cost, one pound of uranium would be equal to 3 million pounds of coal when it comes to energy.
