Welcome to AIM!
Know & Go
Welcome to the Gifted & Talented Family!
What is AIM class?
A.I.M. is a classroom program that supports and enriches what is going on in your regular classroom. The letters A-I-M stand for ACTIVATING INQUISITIVE MINDS. Activating means that we are going to do lesson activities that make the students use lots of thinking power. AIM students often use two thinking strategies: Divergent Thinking and Convergent Thinking. We will spend time looking at concepts a different way, which forces the brain to go from concrete to abstract. Then we discuss how our perception of these objects can change over time. All of these skills will help each student solve a variety of problem-based activities. I also build in a lot of brainstorming, teamwork and STEM activities to help them understand that generating great ideas involves idea fluency, listening to the ideas of teammates, learning from mistakes and redesigning for improvement.

Why do I get to go to AIM class?
When do I come to AIM and where is it?
AIM classes for Kinder students will begin the week after spring break! Our AIM day will be Thursdays mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
How does AIM change each year?
Students who qualify for the AIM Program are eligible for Gifted and Talented services through their senior year in high school if the student chooses to participate. As a student gets older, the amount of time spent in the AIM classroom increases. Students at different grade levels investigate a different historical time period along with participating in activities that develop a learner’s “out of the box” higher level thinking skills.
