EVA March Newsletter
March 2022
From Principal Natividad
EVA Families,
Thank you for your support and partnerships these past several months. Our teachers are working relentlessly to support your students’ academic needs and success. Here are a couple of items I want to share about this month.
SBA Testing: EVA students in Grades 3 through 8 will participate in the Spring Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA). Students will participate in 3 different assessments based on their grade levels. Students in Grades 3, 4, 6, and 7 will take the SBA in Math and English Language Arts (ELA). These four grade levels will have two testing days. Students in Grades 5 and 8 will take both assessments (Math & ELA) and the Science Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). These two grade levels will have three testing days.
Our students will take the SBA at the Everett Community College (EvCC) campus on March 28 - 31, 2022 (9:15 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.).
Please be sure to review our website for additional information such as transportation needs, EvCC parking maps, and schedules.

During this week, K-5 students will follow a 1:00 p.m. early release schedule so that parents can connect with teachers. Please look for emails from your K-5 teachers to sign up for a 30-minute conference. During these meetings, please ask your teachers about your student's current progress and growth over the past several months. Additionally, if your student qualifies for our district’s summer academy based on the recent iReady diagnostic, your teacher will invite your student to the summer opportunity.

If you chose to attend your resident (home) school for the 2022-23 school year, you must submit a request to return to in-person learning here. https://www.everettsd.org/Page/30850

From the Counselor
Every year, March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation to honor women’s contributions in American history. Women have played critical roles throughout human history and especially in American History.
Our first President, George Washington married Martha, who happened to be from a very wealthy family, allowing President Washington the resources and time to participate and help lead the American’s through the early years of the revolution and the establishment of the union. Martha was a huge support to George throughout the war and his presidency and no doubt had an influence on him.
Today we live in a very different social construct and women have made much progress in equality. Lets take some time this month show the rising generation some of those influential women throughout history so that our little ones can have examples to look to and continue to develop respect for the women and the incalculable effect they have on our society.
