Kara Hemminger Named Volunteer of the Month
West Cypress Hills is very fortunate to have fabulous volunteers. Our volunteers spend many hours working to raise funds for our school, they sponsor special student activities, and, in general, they make West Cypress a great place to be. Thus far this school year, our West Cypress volunteers have logged in over 9,500 hours in service to our school.
In appreciation for their service to our school, we like to take time to shine the spotlight on some of our volunteers and the work that they do for us. The West Cypress staff members nominate these volunteers to be recognized as our “Volunteer of the Month.” The Volunteer of the Month for March 2017 is Kara Hemminger. She dedicates much of her volunteer service time to our libraries. Thus far this school year, she has logged almost 180 hours in service to our school. The many things she does to make WCH a great place to be include:
She organized our Literacy Library,
She created and edited records for the Literacy Library,
She assisted Ms. Seidenberger as a WCH Library volunteer, and
She continues to support our Literacy Library and our school library.
Thank you, Kara!
Congratulations to our Regional Science Fair Winners!

Vision and Hearing Certification Class
Lake Travis ISD will be hosting a vision and hearing certification class for parents interested in obtaining this certification. The certification would enable you to volunteer at the school and help the school nurse with vision and hearing screenings. There is no fee for this class. The class will be held at the Education Development Center on April 5 and April 6 from 8:00 until 3:00 both days. The certification is good for five years and can be used to perform vision and hearing screenings at any school, preschool or day care in the state of Texas.
