Parent University on School Safety - March 21st, 2018
Parent University on School Safety was very well attended last evening with over a hundred attending. Together we are committed to be vigilant in ensuring everyone's safety.
That being said we want you to be aware of our protocols and want to make sure everyone is aware of some recent changes:
- The doors will remain locked all the time (unless manned by staff to welcome/direct our guests).
- The office will continue to "identify and welcome visitors" before “buzzing” them into the office to "sign-in" from the main entrance only.
- When the office is closed a custodial phone number is provided at each entrance for deliveries and/or to provide access to outside groups that have been granted use of the facilities.
- Any evening/weekend event or activities scheduled in the building will have limited access to just the area assigned (which will include the nearest restroom facilities). Hallway doors will be locked in the adjacent area during the event to prevent access to the remainder of the building.
- All club and enrichment coaches have been directed to deliver their students to parents/guardians in the main lobby at the end of their programs. Please be prepared to show your ID.
- Staff have assigned security access card to ensure easy access to and from the building when needed.
For the safety of all, we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Morning Music Selection of the Week at HES!
Antonio Vivaldi was born in Venice, Italy, which is where he spent most of his life. His father taught him to play the violin, and the two would often perform together.
Antonio continued to study and practice the violin, even after he became a priest. He was called the "Red Priest" because of his flaming red hair. However, after a while, his bad asthma kept Antonio from saying Mass.
After that, Vivaldi spent all his time writing music and teaching. He taught at an orphanage for girls, and wrote a lot of music for the girls to play. People came from miles around to hear Vivaldi's talented students perform the beautiful music he had written.
Many people think Vivaldi was the best Italian composer of his time. He wrote concertos, operas, church music and many other compositions. In all, Antonio wrote over 500 concertos. His most famous set of concertos is The Four Seasons.
Our music this week is "Spring" from the Four Seasons.

Congrats to the 4th grade MONOMOY Basketball team!
Our 4th Grade Monomoy Basketball team finished our season this past weekend by winning the Consolation Bracket of the Massachusetts State Tournament in Hanover. In the highly competitive tournament, our team lost their first game at the buzzer to West Roxbury and then lost another close game to Norton. We then beat Westwood, Westford and Nauset to win the consolation bracket. Competing in the State tournament was a Great Experience for the Boys.
We qualified for the State Tournament by finishing 2nd Place in the Cape Cod Youth Basketball League. Additionally we won the Sandwich "Marsh Madness Tournament" where we beat 26-1 Cumberland/Lincoln (RI) in the Championship game. Overall we had a 20-11 record for the season. Not bad for a group of boys in their first year of competitive basketball.
