December Character Development

Friendship: I show compassion, sensitivity, understanding and regard for the needs and feeling of other people.

Are you smarter than a second grader?

Fun Facts shared by 2nd grader Lilian Wiener:

During Literacy Time in the library this smart young lady shared with the class a fun fact she learned after the reading of The Night Before Christmas. She explained The Mandela Effect, which refers to a situation in which a large mass of people believes that an event occurred when it did not. She pointed out when reading the names of the reindeer, we say Donner, when in reality it is Donder. Well, the library lady did a donder all right and read by memory. A false memory. When looking back in the book, the reindeer is, indeed, called Donder. And did you know Curious George does not have a tail? We pulled the book out and checked it as well. He does not have a tail!

Thank you Lilian for sharing such a fun fact!

Snap Shots of UIL

Last week Granger ISD hosted UIL events. Pictured below competitors are enjoying the break between events and waiting to hear who earned bragging rights. As far as we are concerned, everyone, including the teachers and staff, earned them. Great job everyone who participated!

Roaring Readers!

Friendly Reminder: Please encourage your child to read over the holidays. Share a book together and enjoy the moment. It may not seem like it now, but time will sneak up on you. It is something we don't get back.

A wish for you: To be able to put chores to the side, be in the moment, and realize all your blessings.

*Remember to check school website and Dojo in case of any last minute changes due to situations beyond GISD control.
