We Are A.R.M.Y. Strong!!
Our vision is to ensure that all students are WMS ARMY Strong and are prepared for high school, college and careers.
Please be checking with Students on their grades and homework completion. Many of the homework assignments show a green checkmark when they are completed. We are seeing many students starting assignments but we need to continue to improve the number of students completing assignments.

Important Information From Mrs. Miller
Dear Parent/Guardian:
My name is Heather Miller and I am the Youth First Social Worker at Washington Middle School. Sudden changes in our schedules can be stressful for not only us, but our kids as well. You have been provided information from the school corporation so that your child can continue their education. I want to help you decrease anxiety in your house related to the Corona Virus.
· Reassure your child they are safe
· Allow them to talk about their worries
· Limit exposure to news
· Create a routine and structure
· Connect with loved ones through calls, text and internet
· Provide books, games, movies
· There is a Facebook page you can search for “Amazing Educational Resources” that will link you to appropriate free educational opportunities. A few for middle and high schools are:
Families are encouraged to stay up-to-date about this situation as we learn more about how to prevent this virus from spreading in our homes and communities. Please visit youthfirstinc.org for more resources on strengthening youth and families.
Sincerely,
Heather Miller, LCSW

The dress code: Ladies can wear dresses, skirts or dress pants. Dresses and skirts must be longer than finger tip length and shoulders must be covered. If girls are wearing dresses with tank tops or straps, they can cover shoulders with sweaters or jackets.
Gentlemen are encouraged to wear dress shirts and ties or bow ties. Jackets and suits are encouraged.
Parking: Parking will be limited to the football stadium parking lot along Highway 41. Please enter the doors that face Washington Avenue. The main parking lot will only be open for handicapped family members.
This is a formal event to honor the work of our students. We ask that you help us model appropriate and respectful behavior during this event by clapping respectfully and refraining from yelling as student names are being called. This is out of respect for all families, so they can also hear their child's name.
Cops Connecting with kids
We are so excited to be included in the Cops Connecting with Kids program through the Evansville Police Department! This partnership will allow our students (and some lucky staff members) the opportunity to go to Disney next fall! This is an experience that our students will never forget.
In order to ensure that we have the funds to send our students and staff, we will need to join in the fundraising efforts with EPD. The WMS Staff are selling barbecue for our first fundraiser. All sale forms and money will be due on Monday, March 30th. Our school goal is to sell $2,000 worth of BBQ. Please contact the school if you are interested in purchasing any of the BBQ.
