Japan Shoguns, Tokugawa, Closed Country Policy
-Tokugawa Ieyasu was credited for unifying Japan. He became the shogun. The shogun is the sole ruler. He was the ruler of Japan until 1616 when he died.
The Closed Country Policy
in 1963, Japan's boarders were sealed except for one port city. It was open only to the Chinese and Dutch. Tokugawa Shoguns controlled that city and had tight control over all foreign contact. China remained closed to just about all European contact for the next 200 years.
