End of School Year Notes

Please read these end of school year notes carefully. There are a few important items that you need to know in this update!!

Report Cards Being Sent Home

An initial report card will be sent home next week to all students. For 6th grade students, this is their official report card. All other students will receive a second FINAL report card in July after the state releases End-of-Course test results. As you know, the state test (EOC) counts for 30% of the student's final grade in those classes, so the grades will need to be recalculated after state test results are released.

Classes in grades 7-12 that do not have an End-of-Course test associated with it will be complete in the first run of report cards, but the other courses will be recalculated after state exams are posted (expected in July). After that, all 7-12 report cards will be mailed to you again with final scores.

Classes that have EOC scores attached to them are:

Civics (Grades 7 and 8)

Algebra I (Grades 7-12)

Geometry (Grades 8-12)

US History (Grades 9-12)

Biology (Grades 8-12)

All other courses will have their completed grade for the 2019-2020 school year on the initial report card.

If you have any questions regarding this process, please feel free to contact us here at the school Thank you for your support and understanding as we wait on these important state test results.

Dress Code Updates for 2019-2020

As you know, we take the safety and security of our MSA family very seriously. As we increase and refine our security measures here at MSA, we find it important to change the policy regarding students wearing non-MSA clothing on our campus. Starting this upcoming 2019-2020 school year, all outerwear including but not limited to, jackets, sweaters, hoodies, etc. must be MSA apparel and be dress code compliant in order to be worn on campus, as well as on the walk and after school activities on school grounds. This safety precaution helps school staff & security easily recognize our students, but most importantly they can quickly spot intruders and any other individuals who do not belong. Beginning in July, our school store will be open to purchase your MSA apparel and we will also be offering some exciting new jacket options that will be available by pre-order only to help students be prepared as the weather gets cooler. Information regarding store hours of operation will be sent home soon! We appreciate your continued support as we make every effort to keep MSA a safe school for your students.

Every year students outgrow uniforms, or move up to high school uniforms. We have a great need at MSA for used uniforms. Please consider donating uniforms you don't need any longer to the school so we can help families in need.

Whether you outgrew your uniform shirts or bottoms, or you have graduated or moved from Middle School to High School, we appreciate any uniforms that are donated to the school. Your generosity assists others greatly.

All 6th Grade Students must get more shots before 7th Grade.

The State of Florida requires proof of immunization for all students entering 7th grade each year. This proof must be on the official State of Florida Immunization Form (DH680... the Blue Card) which is obtained from your doctor's office or the Health Department. The following immunizations must be documented on this form:

* Tetanus, Diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) - This is the update shot that you need for 7th Grade.

* Hepatitis B vaccine series

* Varicella vaccine or the year of disease

* Two doses of MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella)

Please see your doctor or the Health Department for more information and to assure that your child has met these requirements. This documentation must be submitted to the school before the first day of school next year (August 12). Students will not be allowed to come to school until these shot requirements are met. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
