Supporting Strong Path Leaders
"Be as polite to the custodian as you are to the chairman of the board." H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
We expect our students to treat all support staff with the same respect and manners that they give their teachers.
Please model these lessons when come up. With them watching and learning, be polite towards cashiers, delivery drivers, front desk support, and restaurant staff.
Encourage real world practice. Have them approach the front desk for their own appointments, while using the same manners they show their teachers. Have them accept the food delivery. Have them speak to the waiter with polite requests.
It won't go perfectly the first few tries, but they'll get better each time. Let them stumble.
How is Your Active Listening Going?
Active Listening Presentation
Step by Step Checklist
The Checklist below is also located in the Active Listening Presentation folder. All items are expected to be completed in class, however students can work on it from home.
Grades
They'll receive a test grade for prep work which will involve writing a short script of Active Listening examples. They'll also receive a test grade for presenting the skits to the class.
Even though the students will collaborate in a group for this project, their grade is their own. If they do not do their own work or participate in the group presentation, then their grade will be negatively affected, not their group members'.
Step-by-Step Checklist
Just 10 Days Away Until End of 1st Quarter
Decrease the last minute family stress.
They won't know unless they ask. Remind your student that they have that control. They can check with all of their teachers if there's anything more they can do to raise their grades. Sometimes there are extra credit opportunities or corrections they can still do.

We asked: How did they come to working at LT? What is a day in the job like? What is respectful and kind behavior that makes these difficult jobs better?
Front Desk Staff
Ms. Alexander from the Annex Front Desk was able to answer our questions about attendance, tardies, and check out passes. Asking politely for entry through the security door.
Custodial Staff
Ms. Selena spoke to us about the whole day of keeping us safe by ensuring that the Annex is clean and sanitized. We expect LT9 to say good morning and thank you to our custodians and pick up their own trash.

The Mystery of Genius Hour and the Schoology Portal
From this week on, your student will need to request to be Schoology "portaled" in by a teacher who they wish to have tutorials with during Genius Hour. It will cut down on the confusion of getting physical passes.
Genius hour is everyday, giving the students an extra hour of study hall time each day.
On Fridays, students are allowed to go to a club for Genius Hour. Please encourage your students to sign up for at least one club.
1st SAT Practice- Oct 16
Our students will be practicing for the SAT for the first time mid October. We want the kids to make mistakes and try their best. It is free and during the school day.
