Hello Ridgeline Families!

The Fun Run was a hit! We had a beautiful day and the Ridgeline students tested their personal limits running the Rexius trail, supported by enthusiastic and hard working volunteers and school staff. There were balloons, music and rainbow costumes in theme with the last day of Spirit Week. The determined kindergarteners ran up to 32 laps around the South Field!

If you weren’t able to make it to the Fun Run, or if you made it and would love to join us for more fun, there are plenty of opportunities at the Book Fair, Stone Soup and our upcoming Walk & Roll event that will take place alongside Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day!

Bring in Those Fun Run Pledges!

We are just over halfway to our goal of $10,000 for this year’s Fun Run!

Reach out to your community, families, and friends and don’t forget to show them the QR code or the link to donate. Donations are due November 14th.

Drop off and Pick up Line!

You are Your Child’s Role Model.

Ridgeline, we are one in community, and we need your help. Pick-Up and Drop-off times are a challenging sequence of events for the school day. We need all adults to work together to create an experience that is as smooth as possible and models Ridgeline’s Core Values. Please pull all the way forward, regardless of where your students attend class. Direct your vehicle with intention and care to model safety. Lastly, if your student requires your help to exit or enter the car, please park your vehicle on the street to help facilitate the smooth car line we all appreciate.

Invitation for Parent Input on SIA Funding Priorities

Please share your valuable input regarding Ridgeline's Student Investment Account (SIA) funding priorities and goals. Your input will be utilized as we update the SIA plan for the future. Please view the 2022 Student Investment Act Presentation and then complete the short survey at the end.

Book Fair

This year's Book Fair will take place on Friday, November 18, from 5:00-7:00. We are partnering with local bookstore Books With Pictures Eugene to create a fresh, fun event where we will purchase books for our classrooms, home libraries, and as gifts for friends.

Enjoy student performances, buy some pizza from Whirled Pies, and connect with other Ridgeline families!

Stone Soup

Stone Soup cooks needed! We need some cooks to prep the outdoor kitchen and make tasty soups from the unpredictable collection of vegetables that the students provided.

Check out Track it Forward for that and more Stone Soup volunteer opportunities!

Watch for more information next week to learn about this wonderful Ridgeline tradition.

Thank you!

Thank you so much to Tate Kelley for taking the lead on the Fun Run along with Amy Sage who passed along her wisdom from past years and contributed hours of hard work.

Big thanks also to Facilities Coordinator, Jesse Cloninger, for working hard to prepare the route and then spending the rest of the time cheering on kindergarteners as they ran their laps!

Thank you to Laura Waters for spending over an hour as a crossing guard, keeping each and every child, parent, staff and community member safe as they crossed West Amazon during the Fun Run!

Thank you to all of the volunteers, those who set up the tarps, balloons and the kindergarten flags, rode bikes around the route, cheered runners on while keeping them safely on the path, provided water, popsicles, first aid, and everyone else who took part in the Fun Run!

We are so grateful for your enthusiasm and all of your hard work and can’t wait to watch our students express their gratitude for everything in their lives during Stone Soup. If you would like to volunteer to help in that event, head over to Track it Forward to sign up! More details below, and a link to sign up to help kids cut vegetables the day before!

Remember to fill out your background check forms and review the requirements on the Volunteer Page of our website! We can’t wait to see you at all the fun events we have coming up and joining us in school soon!

Volunteering

Take a look at the volunteer opportunities we have available and head over to Track it Forward and sign up! See below for more information on volunteering requirements (background checks are necessary!) and how to track your progress toward your 40 hour goal!

Stone Soup Cooks

  • We are looking forward to the return of this beloved Ridgeline tradition. Stone Soup is a school-wide event the day before Fall Break (November 23). Students bring vegetables to school on Tuesday, November 22 and slice them in the classrooms with the support of volunteers. The following day, Wednesday, November 23, volunteers prepare soups that staff and students will enjoy as an afternoon snack before dismissal for the Fall Break. Click on the Stone Soup Event to sign up to:

    • Cook Soup! We need some cooks to prep the outdoor kitchen and make tasty soups from the unpredictable collection of vegetables that the students provided.

Book Fair

  • If you like books, pizza and school performances, this is the event for you! Check out the Book Fair on Track it Forward to sign up.

    • General Volunteer: Be ready for anything! Book Fair organizers will be ready with tasks for you during the event.

    • Clean up crew: help move books back to Books with Pictures (just a block away) after the event.

    • Big Vehicle: If you can fit a lot of books in your car, help the owner of Books with Pictures move things back to her store after the Book Fair!

Spare Clothes Sorting

  • If you are passionate about kids having clothing in the event of an accident (mud, blood, or otherwise) and have a couple of hours to help us get our spare clothes in order, it would be greatly appreciated. Please let the office know and sign up in Track it Forward if you are interested in sorting and tidying our clothes bins and helping us identify gaps in sizes or garment types.

The following volunteers are needed to make sure that pick-up and drop-off are smooth and safe for our students:

  • Crossing Guards

Crossing guards needed to help guide Ridgeline students as they cross West Amazon to access the Amazon trail and the bridge across the creek. Volunteers needed daily at 8-8:30 am and 3-3:20 pm. Safety vests and stop signs provided. Crossing guards need to be fully vaccinated and have a background check within the last 5 years. Sign up for any number of mornings and/or afternoons on Track it Forward

For more volunteer options, Room Parents will email the class, Teachers will reach out to families in their classroom communications, and Becky Fay will include volunteer opportunities in the eNews. In addition to working at events, volunteers serve on committees, make materials at home, do grounds work, act as crossing guards, partner with other parents to take care of classroom duties and other projects.

See instructions at the bottom of the eNews for more information on how to sign up and track your hours with Track it Forward.

If you would like to volunteer, go to the Volunteer Page of our website and review what is required! Be sure to fill out the volunteer background check form if you have not done so within the last five years and submit it to Becky Fay in the school office. Please have patience with the background check process, as there is a delay in turnaround. Bring your ID and proof of COVID vaccination as well. School volunteers are required by state law to be vaccinated.

The RCO School Social!

Thank you to the wonderful RCO members who led this event, the Ridgeline staff and board members, and the families who joined us in conversation! We can't wait to meet more of our community at the next RCO Social in February!

Lost and Found

Lost & Found - There is now a plethora of wet outerwear on the building A playground. Teaching staff report that the vast majority of kindergarten and lower-el students are unable to identify their own jackets. Please label your child's clothing with their name and room number

Lost & found items will be displayed next week on conference days. If you have signed up for an in person conference, please check the lost and found for items your child may be missing.

CONTINUING NEWS

On-Site Rapid Testing

Should your student develop COVID-19 symptoms while at school, Ridgeline has BinaxNOW rapid tests available. These tests will only be administered if you have completed the Oregon Health Authority waiver and returned it to the school.

Curative Rapid COVID-19 PCR Testing

Rapid PCR testing is available at two local sites through Curative. Check their website to sign up for a testing time. Results are generally available in approximately 2 hours. They also offer other testing and services.

Track it Forward

Ridgeline will continue to utilize Track it Forward for volunteer sign-ups and to log your volunteer hours. If you are new to Ridgeline or have not yet created an account, please do so! Last year we had a lot of folks forget to log their hours. Volunteer hour reporting is important for us to show support for Ridgeline when applying for grants and for reporting to our sponsoring district.
