The History of Palestine
The region referred to as Palestine includes the territories of present-day Israel and Jordan. The Palestinian people, commonly referred to as Palestinians, are the modernized descendants of societies who resided in Palestine throughout the last century. The culture and linguistics specific to Palestine are largely governed around Arab culture due to the Arabization experienced by much of the region in the early 1500s. Genetic analysis conducted by anthropologists suggests that much of the Palestinian aggregation practiced the religions of Christianity and Judaism. However, due to modern religious conversion, the predominate supply of Palestinian citizens have modified their belief system and adopted the religion of Sunni Muslim. Because the Palestinian people practiced and currently practice a religion conducive to the Jewish aggregation (Judaism), a large portion of the Jewish people migrated into Palestine, currently accounting for 20% of the region's population.
The Location of Palestine
The region of Palestine is comprised of the territories specific to present-day Israel and Jordan.
Political Map Depicting Palestine
Homeland of Palestine
Because Palestine was never re-established following its initial establishment in 1517, the homeland specific to Palestine remains confined to the territories of present-day Israel and Jordan.
Language Specific to Palestine
The language practiced by the predominate supply of Palestine's occupants is Arabic.
Conflict, Violence, and Genocide Experienced by Palestine
In the year 1948, thousands of Palestinians were exterminated and eradicated by terrorist Jewish organizations including the Stern, Haganah and Irgun. The Deir Yassin massacre took place on April 9, 1948 in Palestine in which more than 100 villagers, including women and children, were annihilated and massacred. Victims of this genocide were shot with live ammunition, while others burned to death as rockets unrelentingly peppered the village. Prisoners of the covert, underground Jewish terrorist group, Irgun, were murdered after being paraded through the streets in occupied Jerusalem. In 1956, a massacre of 500 villagers took place in Khan Younis in the central region of the Gaza Strip. The Gaza strip, a sector of Palestine, has been, and remains subject to abundant violence and genocide due to religious and political controversy.
Palestine's Movement for Independence
The Independent Youth Movement, or Hirak Shebabi, is a coalition of politically and economically independent youth. This group is an activist network that has been established to embody and represent the will of the Palestinian people. The Independent Youth group is largely driven by national concerns inflicted by a government that is controversial among the predominant supply of Palestinian citizens. The Palestinian National Council, formally abbreviated as the PNC, was established by the Hirak Shebabi to formally protest against the Palestinian government, and to request independence from a harsh, dictatorial governmental system. Palestinian citizens continue to push for and encourage the independence of their nation from a corrupt, unjust government via protest groups and establishments. Palestine also struggles to declare its independence from neighboring countries Israel and Jordan.
Influential Individuals of Palestine
Palestinians of significance include President, Yasser Arafat and Prime Minister, Mahmoud Abbas.
Palestinian Rights of Power
The rights and liberties that have been implemented by the power of the Palestine Liberation Organization grant Palestinian citizens rudimentary human and civil liberties as well as the right to determine their political, economical, and religious status.
Current Status of Palestine
Conflict between the nation of Palestine and country of Israel has resulted in immense conflict and animosity between the two regions regarding Palestinian independence and self-determination. However, as the United Nations continues to intervene and assert peace and tranquility among the two nations, Palestine will continue to develop and stabilize. Established in 1974, the PLO, or Palestine Liberation Organization, was recognized as the sole representative of the Palestinian people. This method of representation serves as the form of government that is currently practiced among this region which is responsible for governing the Palestinian congregation. Inalienable rights that have recently been implemented and enacted by the PLO grant Palestinian citizens the right to independently determine their political, economical, and religious status.
