Check out the links below to learn more about the participants and their experiences.
The Spring 2016 GLE cohort each created a website to address a social justice issue of their interest. Follow this link to read more about each GLE participant and then click on their name to read their website.
The GLE participants each wrote a blog about one of the events, workshops or experiences they had during the program. Follow this link to read their stories and see the insights they gained.
A few participants volunteered to put together a little video of their time together. While it doesn't convey so much the activities we took part in, it does show the spirit of the community that was created. Follow this link to enjoy!
Seasonal GLE Director: Tai Mesches
GLE Seasonal Director: Tai Mesches
I am happy to welcome Tai Mesches to the VIA family. Tai is currently studying at SIT for a masters in Intercultural, Leadership and Management. His background includes teaching in China, designing curriculum and coordinating activities for cross-cultural understanding with an emphasis on experiential learning.
Tai will be assisting the Seasonal Social Innovation Director as well as directing the August GLE program. I am looking forward to the insights he will bring and ideas he will share for enriching the leadership program.
GLE in Bangkok
The GLE program in Bangkok will launch this summer. This program is a result of exploring ways to increase socio-economic diversity of the participants and build out the VIA ecosystem for supporting social justice leaders and entrepreneurs.
VIA is partnering with Thammasat University, a university known for their work on social justice issues. There the GLE participants will work with Thammasat university students to explore ways to address social justice issues in Thailand.
In GLE program fashion, participants will take immersive workshops and visit inspiring organizations. Additionally, participants will travel to a rural Thai community to learn more about the issues the community is facing. The Thammasat students will team up with the GLE participants to explore ways to solve community issues.
Read more about it in the wonderful brochure Kazutoh created.
