From the Desk of the High School Principal-Mr. Tom Roote
Have you ever been in that surreal moment when someone says to you, "Trust me, I understand." or "I know how you feel!" and your like no way you do and stop patronizing me! Well, I am fairly certain that the stars are currently aligned and all of us; teachers and parents alike are rowing in unison in the same boat as we try to keep to the script professionally while making sure our kids are taking a decent stab at remote learning or homeSkooling as I call it. In the pictures below you can see what a typical day looks like in my house. We have converted our family room into a classroom and equipped it with the unexpected $600 investment of Chromebooks. PE is often a dance party. We spend hours upon hours managing parental controls while setting screen time limits on each device. Can you believe I actually corresponded with the school tech. director for a week about a device issue (the camera was not working to take pictures of completed work) before he realized that Jack and Ava's devices were not school-issued. Arrrgh!
Since last week was dedicated to giving a shout out to our teachers, I thought it was appropriate to thank all of our parents for what they are doing and what they are sacrificing to make sure home learning is occurring. "Trust me, we know how you feel!".

Mash Up
Parents: Please be patient with our increased messaging around the topic of course failure. By the end of next week, you may have received a couple of call, e-mails and a letter. We are worried about students drifting away from our efforts to support them. We are hopeful your responsiveness can prompt them to repair a quarter 1-3 grade and to better connect in quarter 4.
