From the Principal's Desk
Dear DiPietro Families,
Welcome back from what I hope was a calm and peaceful weekend. The Friedman home certainly enjoyed the time together. This past week we tried to "break up the monotony" by partnering up for dinner responsibilities. It was actually a lot of fun because the two people that cooked were creative and tried new recipes. Then the rest of the family did clean up. I'm not sure the Friedman boys were too excited when we first shared the idea, but it couldn't have been too bad, because we are doing it again this week. :) This week, in addition to school, the plan is to do some painting. Fingers crossed that everyone responds as positively. Ha ha. I hope that all of you are doing well, have settled into your new routines and are finding creative ways to break up monotony....if you have any. I miss our little community at 70 Harpin Street and cannot wait to get back to seeing everyone each school day.
There are quite a few updates that address both this year and next year. Please see below.
Remote Learning Update:
At this time we are in full swing with our Remote Learning Plan. As always, please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions/concerns/needs that your family may have.
Last night the Department of Education released additional guidance on Remote Learning now that it has been determined that we will not be reentering our buildings for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. The administrative team will be spending a couple days reviewing it, analyzing where we need to make adjustments in our current plan, and then work with our staff.
Survey Plans:
Thank you to the several families that will out the Seesaw and/or Google Classroom surveys. I will be sharing trends out with the staff this week and getting back to you. As plan is formulated I will share back out with you through an email, the next newsletter, or possibly a Zoom meeting.
Placement for Next Year:
Please take a moment to read this letter as we begin the process of planning for next year.
Let's have a wonderful week.
Student Items Left in the Building:
Over the course of the next two weeks I will be working on a plan to allow teachers to have access to materials/items in the building. I will also be working with them on a plan that best gets your child's personal items back to them. I will share this process out with you once it is complete and provide days and times that items can be retrieved. Thank you for your patience.
From the PTO:
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up! Please take a look at this flyer from our PTO for ways to celebrate your teachers.
Have a fun week!
Your principal,
Miriam Friedman
A Note from Mrs. Barros
Hello DiPietro Families,
I hope you are all well and staying safe and healthy.
Please see below for some important information.
1. For those students with medication/health supplies in my office, pick up will be on Wednesday, April 29 from 8:00am -10:00am. I will be outside the main door of the school and you can drive by to pick up the medicine. Please respond to this email if you are available to pick up the medicine.
2. For the 2020-2021 school year, your child will need a new doctor 's order for medicine to be used at school in addition to an allergy action plan or asthma action plan from the physician if necessary. You can bring that paperwork and medicine to school in the fall. 3rd Grade Parents, you will need the same paperwork when your child starts at BMS.
3. For those students on Individual Health Care Plans (health conditions and food/insect allergies), I will be updating those plans for next year and it will be provided to you in the fall. If you have any medical updates that should be included in your child's health care plan, please let me know so I can make the appropriate changes.
4. The nurse at the middle school, Mrs. Loftus, will be notified of any 3rd grade student with health conditions, food/insect allergy, asthma that are heading up to middle school next year. She will get your child's health care plan and health chart. Her email is mloftus@bpsdk12.org if you have any questions regarding the health office at BMS.
I am very sad that COVID-19 has put a dent in our school year. I miss seeing the children at school very much! I miss their smiles, giggles, and visits. I am going to miss saying good luck to my current 3rd grade friends as they head up to the middle school in the fall. :(
I hope you and your families are all safe. PLEASE reach out to me if you need any assistance. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me
Be well,
Holly Barros
