In Case You Missed It:
Scores have been shared with science teachers. This is a reminder NOT to share scores with students until after ALL testing has been completed We began doing this a few years ago to keep students that worked hard but were still not successful from giving up before they have finished all exams. We will complete a form with student scores and growth to go home with each student next Friday. These forms will be sent to grade level team leaders to share with all next week. Invitations to Summer Achievement will also go home at the same time. Here is a link to the comparison scores spreadsheet I create after scores were finalized in October. It will give you something to compare scores to as they come in this week.
This is a reminder to plan engaging and fun activities for students after testing. Students do not need to watch movies and/or play outside for the remainder of the day. We tend to see referrals go up because students have too much free time. I also want to remind you to make a phone call home to let parents know if their child's behavior has changed, is not responding to redirection from you, and/or if you have written their child up. This is always the expectation. This time of year we may not process within our normal 24 hour turn around. Please alert parents that this is the case because of testing and all administrators are involved and only process as time allows.
Tuesday's English 1 2-hour exam will take place in two rooms at the end of the 8th grade hallway (Kincaid and technology). Angela Kincaid and Elizabeth Holland will relocate their classrooms to Bianca DiMarcello's and Mark Hildreth's classrooms. Make up testing for Science and Social Studies will begin Monday, We will be using the office of the media center, rooms in the front office, and rooms 130 A,B,C and D. Please be mindful of the testing going on and remind your students to be quiet in the hallway.
The Exploratory Teacher Team has asked me to remind you to make sure students have necessary materials when reporting to their classes. Computers, pencil, and paper are needed up until the end. Their classes are not a free period. Teaching and learning is still going on just like in all other classes. Students have exploratory classes up through June 6.
We did order more certificates from LIfetouch. If you do not see what you need in the PLC room, see Allison Hickman. She has the new awards in her room.
Only teachers understand... :)
