Hive Happenings!
January 2022
A Message from Principal Meneses
Ellison Families,
I would like to begin this message with a very excited "Happy New Year!" I am a firm believer in the magic of new beginnings, and I cannot wait to see what surprises 2022 has in store for us all.
We ended 2021 on a very festive note in our hive. We cozily sipped on hot chocolate in our pajamas, we rose our voices together in a sing-along, and we celebrated the holidays with class parties. The fun is not over yet, we will welcome the new year by wearing our New Year headgear on Monday, we will celebrate the 80th day of school with 80s gear onTuesday, and we will show our appreciation for law enforcement officials with a merienda on Friday. (See below for more information on these activities.)
This month, our SEL focus will revolve around Fairness. Students are learning of the importance of fairness and equity during their Sunshine Starters. On January 28th, our Fourth Grade students will lead our Fairness Bee Jubilee. We would like to invite all 4th Grade families to this special ceremony. Future ceremonies will give parents of children in other grade levels an opportunity to see their children perform. If your child will be recognized as a Pillar of Character, your child’s teacher will contact you so you have the opportunity to attend.
Speaking of fairness, our little bees will have the opportunity to participate in a "Bee" the Change Fairness Challenge. This will be an at-home challenge that is sure to bring out the author in all of our little bees. The contest is open to all students. Several students per grade level will be selected to participate in a living wax museum, and winners will be invited to participate in an ice cream float celebration.
I hope that you had the opportunity to spend quality time with the ones you love this break and that you are as excited as I am to see all of the learning and growth that will take place in our hive in the upcoming months. Thank you all so much for being a part of our 2022 journey!
Sincerely,
Principal Meneses

Tardies
Please park and sign your child in with the office staff of you are arriving after 7:45 am.
** If you have younger children that need assistance into the front entrance of the building, please arrive before 7:40 am, when staff are on duty and student safety patrols are monitoring the express lane.
In addition, parents are welcome to park anytime after 7:40 a.m. to walk their child into campus. We ask that children are never dropped off in the parking lot, as that poses a safety concern.
