There are also 'bits and pieces' here to get you thinking and some fantastic sites will be revealed to get you into the Christmas spirit with your classes. Enjoy!
Kindergarten
KB, as part of their Child Protection unit, looked at who protects them, looks after them and cares for them. The children wrote about the people or pets they help care for and recorded their voices and illustrations using the 'Explain Everything' app on the iPad. Their individual work has been combined in an iMovie below. Vimeo was used to share the final product.
KB Care!
Continuing with Child Protection, KB read 'My Dearest Dinosaur' by Margaret Wild while talking about protecting and caring for each other. They wondered what would happen if some dinosaurs visited their classroom. Some fun was had with the 'Dinosaurs Everywhere' iPad app! These were also put together in an iMovie to share. Vimeo was used to share the final product.

KB also spoke about and role played the concept of No, Go and Tell if they are in trouble or see someone else in trouble. They used the Sock Puppets app on the iPad to get their message across. These were also put together in an iMovie to share. Vimeo was used to share the final product.

Year 2
2D watched some YouTube procedures on how to fold a T-shirt quickly. Some of the children worked in pairs and used the camera on the iPads to record their own procedures. They also used the iPad app 'Shadow Puppet' to record a procedure on how to blow a bubble. Please click on the link below to view their work.

Year 3
3J and 3M as part of their COGs unit 'Being Australian' created glogs using the Glogster EDU website on Australian World Heritage Listed sites. They have been shared below using Blendspace.
An interesting article here was posted a couple of days ago on the the 'primary Edutech' site on glogs and the Glogster site. I have found glogs a fantastic multi-modal tool for all my students to use. And they love working with it too. This may help to convince you as well.
Year 4
4C and 4S, as part of their COGs unit ‘Being Australian’, researched Australian innovators and inventors. They published their findings in a Podcast created with GarageBand. They also included an art work track on their podcasts. Here is one below, and then click on the link below that, to see all the other completed podcasts on our website. They were shared using Vimeo.

4C and 4S also had some fun with the 'Money Everywhere' app to present another Aussie invention - the polymer banknote. The images and narration were combined in an iMovie and shared via Vimeo.

Year 5
5B and 5S created digital portrait collages as part of their COGs Unit 'Identities'. They used 'Photo Booth' on our Macs and arranged them on a new iWeb page on their school Intranet site. Please click on the links below to view their great work. They have been shared using Youblisher.
5B and 5S students also looked at how the Australian identity has been presented in the media during the devastating bushfires in NSW. Students created 'word clouds' to showcase the words that have been used to describe the amazing 'Aussie Spirit' in this time time of great sorrow and hardship. Their word clouds were made using the ABCya! Word Clouds website. They were shared in a slideshow made on Kizoa.
Year 6
6C and 6M created their individual 'Memories of HPS' iMovies this term. Scripts were written and recorded with the Easi-speak microphones and added to iTunes, music was added to iTunes and photos collected from our Intranet from Kinder to Year 6. Their iMovies are on their Digital Portfolio CD that will be presented to them at the Year 6 Farewell. Here is one below shared via Vimeo and some others can be viewed on our website.

Not sure how to use certain apps in your classroom? Google is my friend! I learn heaps by having a play myself and then searching out some guidence online. Here is a useful YouTube from Matt Gomez on Educreations ( a free app that is on all our iPads at school). Matt is a Kinder teacher in Nth Dallas and has lots of great ideas on his blog so take the time to check it out.
