Winter Homecoming Week!
Attendance Nook
As we continue to emphasize the importance of regular attendance, our weekly newsletter will have an attendance nook, posting quick facts and graphics about our school attendance systems and expectations.
We are currently in Trimester 2, and we know that sickness is most rampant during this time. It correlates with our worst-attended trimester of the year as well. While we certainly understand some uncontrollable absences, we encourage that all other forms of absences are minimized, as attendance is the number one correlate with our students' academic success! Stay tuned for more on this moving forward!
If you have questions, please call or email assistant principal Denver Wade (waded@wws.k12.in.us; 317-867-6948).

Holocaust Speaker Visit
We were truly blessed to have Mr. Frank Grunwald, a Holocaust survivor, come share his amazing story with our sophomore class last Thursday. They just finished reading Night by Elie Wiesel in English class, a moving memoir about the firsthand account of the horrors of the Holocaust.
Mr. Grunwald was born in 1932 and his homeland of Czechoslovakia was invaded by German troops when he was six. His family was taken to Terezín, a concentration camp. He survived being transferred to three additional concentration camps, including Auschwitz. His life story was turned into a documentary released in 2012 called Misa’s Fugue. He has a special desire to impact the youth, and he has spoken at nearly 100 high schools and universities.
Mr. Grunwald's courage and strength were an absolute inspiration. Please click HERE to read the questions our sophomores asked Mr. Grunwald and his responses.

January is Positivity & Purpose Month!
Westfield High School is excited to focus on monthly themes that are aligned with our Life Ready skills. In addition, these themes match CORE content as well as national/global awareness months.
January’s theme is Positivity & Purpose. Our CORE sessions this month will offer enrichment activities encompassing the Positivity & Purpose theme. Additionally, there is a monthly nomination form for those students and staff that demonstrate each of our monthly themes.
The students/staff that demonstrate positivity would see the best in themselves and in others. They have the trust and confidence to develop and grow a positive future and refuse to let setbacks or failures discourage them from reaching their goals. They focus on opportunities and what they can control.
Students/staff who demonstrate purpose would have a growth mindset and work hard. They take on challenges that stretch them and assess ideas and viewpoints. They inspire or spark others interest and enthusiasm.
Join us for a fundraiser to benefit the WHS Baseball Program! It is a 21+ event at the Grand Park Event Center on January 20th from 7-11 PM. $30/person. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
