Hallway Happenings PHJH Edition
10/22/23-10/26/23
Good Evening Patriots,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and are excited to get into our first full week of December.
Our insanely talented Patriots are doing so many outstanding things in school right now, I spent all of my writing time editing and organizing pictures this week. I am not gonna lie, I feel no regrets because when going through all of these beautiful pictures, it gives me an opportunity to reflect on all of the accomplishments our Patriots are making each and every day here at PHJH.
The growth your students make in the short three years we have them is nothing short of a miracle, and if you ask me, goes right along with our theme of this month which is "Awe and Wonder."
I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Speaking of awe and wonder, our Giving Tree is well under way and as always, I am impressed with the amount of ornaments we already have taken off of the tree.
We have 102 items to clear the tree this year, and so far we have cleared almost 50, so thank you soooo much to everyone that has so generously given already.
If you are able to help, please see the flier below for how to participate.
Can't wait to see all of your beautiful faces in the morning!
As Always Patriots

Students Not Already Enrolled in Providence Hall
For students who are not already enrolled in Providence hall, the link for Providence Hall's 24-25 Lottery Application will be on the Enrollment page of our website Friday 12/15/23 so they can join our awesome school for next school year!(https://www.providencehall.com/o/phcs/page/enrollment)
Students Already Enrolled in Providence Hall
For students who are already enrolled in Providence Hall, their spots automatically rollover to 24-25 even if moving up to the next school (like moving up from the Elementary to the Junior High, or moving up from the Junior High to the High School), so do not fill out the 24-25 Lottery Application for these students. Instead, parents/guardians of these students will be emailed Enrollment Intent Google From in January to let us know if their students will be continuing enrollment at Providence Hall for 24-25 (next school year) or if their students will be leaving Providence Hall (withdrawing) at the end of this school year.
Still Have Questions?
If you have any questions about enrollment contact our Enrollment Coordinator Kristin Adams (kadams@providencehall.com), who oversees enrollment and registration for all our campuses.

Civics Class Uses Research and Sock Puppets To Study Presidential Duties
For the last 3 weeks our Civics class has been studying the Executive Branch. Students were tasked with researching a specific president to determine how they fulfilled the different jobs of the presidency.
Students picked presidents from George Washington to Zachary Taylor to Dwight Eishenhower. After researching their specific president, they created a colorful and informative brochure about their leader. To share their information with their classmates, students created Presidential sock puppets that would then give interesting speeches about their lives. Students did a great job researching and creating fun Presidential sock puppets!

Building Rollers Coasters To Learn About Kinetic and Potential Energy In Science
Check out our PHJH Patriots in Mrs. Elwell's and Mr. Whitman's 8th grade Science classes building roller coasters to learn all about the how Potential and Kinetic energy works. They were scholars and engineers as they had to plan and design according to the assignment requirements.

Dance Four Practicing The Veterans Day Assembly Dance
Mrs. Wade's Dance Four paused from their tight performance schedule preparing for the Winter Patriot Games assembly to allow us to take a moment to capture some of the beautiful movements that were part of the Veteran's Day Program dance. These PHJH Patriots work hard every class period to sharpen their skills to prepare for high school and dance opportunities both inside and outside of school.

Cruz'n For Some Bruising In Mrs.Tanners Costume and Make Up Design Unit
If you are new to PHJH you might be extremely concerned by the amount of children that are walking our halls this time of year covered in large bruises and strangely excited to tell you about it. The bruise, and wound unit is one of the most loved in the Costume and Makeup design classes. It is amazing to see the talent these students have when it comes to creating these illusions with makeup!

FUTURE RESOURCES NEEDED:
If you have a specific skill in any of these areas and would like to share them with our students & their families at our center, please reach out to Shandra:
*Citizenship Classes--passion and love for teaching about American History & helping adults pass their citizenship test.
*Music Lessons--teach children 8-14 music and create a choir for the children to perform for their families 2x's a year (patriotic music, Christmas songs, cultural songs, etc.).
*Dance Lessons--if you love teaching dance and want to give refugee children the opportunity to learn basic dance skills, give us a call!
*Peer Tutoring--do you have a teenager who would like to get involved and help tutor younger pre-teens? Send them our way!
*Employment specialists--do you love helping people build resumes and find better employment? We need your help!
*Athletic Activities--many of the families don't have the financial means to put their children in athletics. Do you love teaching children sports skills? We are looking at starting small groups of athletic activities for kids ages 8-14 during class time for their parents.
*MANY MORE OPTIONS to come!!
If you know an adult in our area who could benefit from the Columbus Program, please have them REGISTER HERE. We can only serve around 60 students at a time so we will take the first 60 to register & pass back ground checks.
