Brain Cancer

What is Brain Cancer?

Before we can talk about what brain cancer is we have to talk about what cancer is. Cancer is a massive overgrowth of cells in tissues. Not all brain tumors are cancerous. Those are called benign. Brain cancer can cause major problems with brain controlled actions such as muscle control. In a way it's like trying to stop the gears in your head from spinning.

Symptoms of Brain Cancer

Symptoms can include:

  • Depression
  • Headaches
  • Hearing and Vision Loss
  • Fatigue
  • Seizures
  • Blood Clots
  • and Loss of all Senses

Probable Causes for Brain Cancer

The exact cause of brain cancer is not yet certain. It is hard for this cancer to be inherited from parents. We think some causes might be previous radiation to the head, drugs that suppress the immune system, and many environmental toxins. Yet, these causes are still not certain.

Ways to Prevent this Cancer

There isn't anything that will definitely negate to possibility of getting brain cancer. Exercising, a good choice of diet, and less tobacco intake are still recommended to prevent all cancers.

How Brain Cancer is Treated and Diagnosed

MRI and PET scans are widely used to check for the tumor in the brain. There are lots of neurological tests done to diagnose the patient. Chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation is the best chance for treatment.

What is Learned from this Research?

In the research I learned about most aspects of brain cancer. Most of the stuff like prevention and causes are still very uncertain.
