This past Saturday our first Beach Cleanup of the semester took place! We had 20 volunteers who together cleaned over 3 miles of Imperial Beach.

ATTENTION LANCERS!

- Attention Students: CSF Applications are now available in the Counseling Center. Please return them there. Applications are due by Friday, Feb. 2 BY 3:00 PM
- Attention Students: We are looking for students who are willing to host visiting German students from March 1 -15. Please see Ms. Radford in room 707 if interested to look at the bios of the students who are coming. FLAGS students: this would fulfill your FLAGS portfolio assignment requirement for this semester.
- Attention Students: If you or your family members are here under DACA, you will need to renew your status through the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services in order to be protected. Online help is available, or you may see Mrs. Williamson (room 905), Mrs. Polanco (room 605), or Mrs. Woodard (room 606) for help.

- 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. If any of you are interested in attending a National Youth Leadership Forum on medicine, see Ms. Gerlack in the counseling center. Great opportunity. The forum is held at top universities around the country for a week during the summer. Costs two to three thousand dollars though.
CLUBS
- Attention Girls- are you interested in joining your High School's gymnastics team? If so, then come to our tryouts on FEB 17 12N at 465 L street (the old CV Community Youth Center). no experience is necessary. for more information, please get a flyer at the ASB.
- Attention Students: If you are planning on participating in a Spring sport (basebal, softball, mens golf, mens tennis, lacrosse, track, swim/dive, boys volleyball), please get cleared now. If you need forms, please stop by the ASB.
COUNSELORS CORNER
If you would like to refer a student to the counselors, please go to our online counselor referral form. It’s super easy on a google form. All you have to do is:
1. Go to the Hilltop High School Website
2. Go to the Staff Tab and click on Teacher resources
3. Scroll down the list and click on Counselor Referral Form
You can fill out the information online and we will receive it immediately. Of course, we also welcome emails from teachers, phone calls, or a written note. If it’s an emergency, please call the counseling center at 476-4220 to speak with one of the counselors.

Attention CUBS! "College/University Bound Students"
A representative from Johnson & Wales University will be here on Thursday, Feb 1st, at 8:30 am. Johnson & Wales has "rolling admissions" which means you may still apply! Sign up in the Counseling Center if you would like to attend the presentation. (2.75+ GPA required).
Cety's Universidad will offer an information session on Thursday, Feb. 1st at 6:00 p.m. at the Chula Vista Public Library (365 F St. Chula Vista). You may reserve a seat by calling: 01(800)026-6123.
SCHOLARSHIPS
SENIORS:
- Senior Ladies! If you are going into a career in transportation, ie: engineering, environmental studies, geography, urban, city or regional planning, apply for the WTS Foundation Scholarship. Two given out to girls in San Diego County. Over $1000 each.
- Seniors The Ford Scholarship is due in two weeks!!!! This is the $1000 scholarship and a drawing for a free car. You need your transcript and counselor signature. See Ms. Gerlack. 150 winners!!!!
- Seniors The American Legion is offering a $1000 scholarship for a student here at Hilltop. You just need to write a very short essay, 250-300 words, on What does "America the Land of the Free" mean to you?
- Seniors If you will be majoring in any field of engineering or land surveying, pick up a scholarship application for Public Works and American Council of Engineering Companies. Scholarships up to $2000.
- Seniors Quin Murphy Foundation offers scholarships for HILLTOP students ranging from $500 to $2000. Pick up a form in the counseling center!
- Seniors who have musical talent, the RB Chorale Music Scholarship is available. Local scholarship. Competition in voice, string, wind, percussion, or any other solo instrument.
- Seniors: Best Mattress is offering a $1000 scholarship and this one is easy. All you have to do is submit a video answering their questions about your sleep habits. Be creative!
- Seniors: California Coast is offering (2) $2500 scholarships and (8) $2000 scholarships. Must be going to a 4 year college/university in the fall and have a minimum 3.00 unweighted GPA.
- Seniors: The Munoz Family Scholarship is for Hilltop students. All you need is a minimum GPA of 2.5; a short essay and be attending a 4 year college in the fall.
- Seniors: If you have a parent who is active or retired in the Navy or Marines, the Alexander Kreiglowa is for you. You may receive up to $15,000 per year for college. Must have at least a 3.6 to be considered. Pick up an application in the counseling center.
- Senior Ladies! If you are attending a 4 year college/university in the fall and plan on having a career in the sciences including math, engineering, or computer science, pick up an Athena scholarship in the counseling center. 5 given out in the county. Up to $5000.
- Seniors of Asian descent, come pick up information on the InspirASIAN Scholarship. Due January 31st. More than one scholarship. Must have at least an unweighted GPA of 3.40.
ALL GRADES:
- ALL GRADES: Photo Contest for South Bay students!!! The theme: Water in Daily Life. You can turn in up to 3 pictures in black and white and 3 pictures in color. Winners receive money and their picture will be on the 2019 Sweetwater Authority calendar! Pick up application in the counseling center.
