Vaping: What is it?
Vaping is the new cigarette smoking. Vaping is perceived by many (adults and our children) to be "safer" then smoking tobacco. Vaping can be odorless and it can be easy to conceal, so it is much more difficult to detect on someone. Vaporizers are being marketed to our kids. How? The e-liquid can be purchased in all kinds of "kid friendly" flavors, for example, cotton candy and fruity pebbles. Also the device itself is very "techie" looking, making it very appealing to pre-teens and teens. The sale and use of vapor paraphernalia is prohibited to anyone under the age of 18. Yet somehow middle school kids, throughout our state, are getting their hands on these devices.
Parents and middle school students need to become educated about vaping.
