Shaw Shine Award Winner
Each month, Shaw Elementary picks a "Shine Award" Winner. This ONE student is chosen over all the others in the whole school to receive this special award.
CONGRATULATIONS to Carson Rosebrook for being September's Shine Award winner! Carson is a great leader in our school and shows all of our good character traits.
Way to go Carson!
Please read the following write-up from Carson's teacher who nominated him.....
Caring
Carson is a very kind-hearted person. He is always looking out for his peers making sure that they are included in activities in and out of the classroom. He shows concern when a classmate appears sad or in distress. He problem-solves ways to assist and seeks out an adult when unsure of what to do. He lends a helping hand in keeping the classroom and school a safe and happy place to be.
Responsibility
Carson takes personal responsibility for completing his assignments. He works well with others within groups making sure to stay on task. He takes care of his belongings and is always prepared for class. He asks for help when needed and shares his ideas with others.

Attendance Do's and Don'ts
- DON'T forget to report an absence to the office! Call 937-429-7610, option 1 OR email shawattendance@gocreek.org. If the absence is not reported by 9:30am than our automated calling system automatically pulls the info of anyone we have not heard from yet.
- DO keep your student home until they are 24 hour symptom free, without medication.
- DON'T forget to get a doctors note and turn it into the Shaw office when your student visits the doctor during school hours. Each student has 10 absences a school year that a parent can excuse, however if you get a drs note the absence does not count against the 10 you are allotted. Doctor notes should be turned in within 5 days of the absence.
- DO let us know in advance of any absences due to a vacation. The district is no longer using vacation request forms. Therefore an email to shawattendance@gocreek.org is the best way to let us know about an upcoming vacation. The district excuses 10 vacation/out of town days per school year. Please note: parents only receive 10 days of absence that they can excuse. If all parent excused absences are used toward vacation, there will be none left to cover sick days.
