Secondary Literacy
Volume 1, Issue 1 | March 2016
Dear Secondary Educators,
We are all knee-deep in so many exciting educational frontiers! Whether it's obtaining a greater understanding of the Smarter Balanced Assessment, immersing ourselves in PUSD's Balanced Literacy initiative, or calibrating around a common rubric, secondary educators continue to make a successful transition to Common Core to empower our students to be 21st century learners and leaders.
We have been witness to such inspiring teaching, the cultivation of robust instructional teams and collaborative environments that allow for the sharing of best practices. Just recently, Pasadena HS hosted the inaugural "Building Educator Assessment Literacy" training with their 9th-11th grade ELA team, and it was powerful to engage in conversation around the instructional implications gleaned from SBAC performance tasks.
Finally, we are here to serve you. We very much look forward to continuing to support your efforts in teaching reading and writing and empowering your colleagues in your communities of learners.
Please feel free to reach out to us for any support you need to support students!
