Winter Holiday Family Night
Planning for Winter Holiday Family Night has already begun! It is on Friday, December 13th from 6:30-8:30 PM, so mark your calendars for this fun family night! As well as the traditional gingerbread house decorating, there will be a photo opportunity, and baked goods/refreshments. We are in need of volunteers for decorating after school the week of the event as well as helping the day of, with set-up and clean-up. It takes many hands to pull off this wonderful family night! To volunteer, please contact Jean Buelna-Pastor at (503) 784-1457 or keck_buelna@hotmail.com.
Once again this year we are asking for candy donations from families. We will use this candy to make up baggies of candy that will be for sale the night of the event for those who forget to bring their own. We need nut free holiday candy that is appropriate for decorating gingerbread houses (i.e. gumdrops, jelly beans, M&Ms, etc.). Students can bring in the bags of candy until December 11th and give them to their teacher.
We are asking for donations of either store bought or homemade baked goods. For safety due to allergies, we ask that all treats be nut free. Please drop off donations at the school office anytime on December 13th.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
We are looking forward to seeing all our families at Parent/Teacher Conferences on November 25th and 26th. If you have not scheduled your appointment yet, please find the sign up links here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aC4Qx6fFeyvsGVam40shkMtdJB_LUtW2ytBP8eRdtoA/edit?usp=sharing
Parent involvement is critical for your child’s success, learning, attitudes about school and aspirations. Parents, students and teachers must all work together to make an unbeatable team of support for every child. Conferences serve as an important time to continue building strong home-school connections. We look forward to seeing you all during conference week.
Some suggestions that may help for a successful conference:
Before the Conference
- Write down any questions you want to discuss.
- Ask your child how they feel about school and if there are any concerns or questions you should discuss with the teacher.
- Consider sharing an important event that may affect your child’s performance. Be sure to let the teacher know important life changes at home as necessary.
On Conference Day
- Arrive on time and stay only for the amount of time scheduled for your appointment. If important questions have not been discussed, ask for a future appointment or phone call.
- Make notes about the discussion during the conference.
- Ask questions about the information you get from the teacher. What does it mean?
- Introduce yourself to the music and P.E. teachers, our counselor, TAG teacher and the principal. There are also many support staff that would like to get a chance to say hello. It’s an excellent time to learn about the programs planned for this year and your child’s progress.
