FAC Weekly Update
December 11, 2021
Good afternoon, Fine Arts Center Family
We hope you had a wonderful week. We're in the homestretch of 2021, and are ready for next week when our students get to enjoy their first showcase performances in two years! We've also enjoyed some terrific performances this week. Congratulations to the students of the FAC Theatre Program for their performances on Monday evening, and the Chamber Strings students on their performance last night.
Here is the latest from the halls of the Fine Arts Center...
This Week's Student Leadership Lesson
Manage Your Personal Life
"If you want to lead up, you must always lead yourself first. If you can't, you have no credibility. I've found the following to be true:
- If I can't lead myself, others won't follow me.
- If I can't lead myself, others won't respect me.
- If I can't lead myself, others won't partner with me.
Dr. John C. Maxwell - The Maxwell Daily Reader - December 9, page 375.
Congratulations to Makiya Smith!
The National Society of High School Scholars is a distinguished academic honor society, committed to recognizing and serving the highest-achieving student scholars in more than 26,000 high schools across 170 countries. Makiya is one of three winners that were selected in this international competition. Her work will be published on the NSHSS website, and the scholarship will apply to the college of her choice.

Reminder to Re-Apply to the FAC
The application to attend the Fine Arts Center for the 2022-2023 School Year is now open via the GCS Student Backpack account.
- All current FAC students must re-apply for next year - please take care of this now so that it does not fall off your radar.
- FAC students do not need to re-audition for their current program - we assess their qualifications through their daily class performance, on-time submission of assignments, and demonstration of progress via grades.
- Should a current FAC student wish to apply for a different area of study, they will need to go through the audition process for that program. A student who is in good standing with their current program does not need to worry about "losing their spot" if they audition for (and accept an offer from) a new program, as long as they make certain to re-apply for their current program.
