Dear families,
We hope you all had a wonderful and restful Spring break! Our children had a great time learning about our natural environment. Plants, trees, seeds, animals and more, were the center of attention for quite some time and we managed to bring it to a terrific closure at the zoo.
We had a lovely Earth week, and we were amazing Earth keepers!
We started the week by learning a few lessons from “The green bee” during our flag ceremony. Tuesday was full of MAD (make a difference) initiatives that included a litter walk around school! We welcomed the Costa Recicla Foundation on Wednesday and they taught us all about sorting and classifying recyclable materials. Thursday, was RECYCLING RELAY DAY! We had a blast with an amazing and engaging experience that put all our knowledge to the test. To wrap up our fantastic week, we enjoyed nature in Safaricks Zoo.
Our next unit; Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, will blend in magically with all we have already learned. The objective of this new unit is to help students understand how important it is to be more aware of the world around them, as they observe, gather data, explore and propose solutions to everyday problems. We will also require some help from you at home by helping to collect different objects we can investigate here at school. As we study trash and garbage and how we can reduce, reuse and recycle, we will also learn concepts related to math, literacy, science, arts, etc.
At home, you can support our unit by talking about the trash your family generates, have them take some trash to the recycling center, or take them to see where the trash is disposed of. If you recycle at home, then they can take on the responsibility of sorting the trash with you. No matter how little they are, they truly can make a BIG difference!!!
Have a nice weekend and HAPPY EARTH DAY!
