Important Information about House Bill 4545 Tutorials
In the 2021 Legislative Session, House Bill 4545 was passed which required all students in third grade through high school to have thirty hours of tutoring for each STAAR/ EOC test not passed. BISD responded by making adjustments to the schedule to include time within the school day for tutoring. The Texas Education Agency has provided a list of approved vendors as curriculum providers to work with districts to deliver high-impact tutoring. In the next week, BISD will implement this high-impact tutoring with students in grade six through twelve. Learn more about FEV Tutor and the BISD tutoring program here and at fevtutor.com.

Crisis Counselor's Corner
Starting next week, we will be launching an additional Social Emotional Curriculum that will be in addition to our monthly Take Care Thursday lesson and our daily Rhithm check ins. Yes, that’s how the company spells Rhithm ;). We will be launching the program initially during lunches on Fridays. The 7 Mindsets curriculum is aligned with Bloom’s Taxonomy, developmental research on how students encounter and work with knowledge. In grades K-12, students will be given the opportunity to remember and understand the mindsets and learning objectives. The curriculum is designed to progress intentionally, leading to the application and evaluation of what they have learned. The alignment to Bloom’s Taxonomy ensures that your K-12 students completely grasp, understand, and implement the 7 Mindsets to better meet their present challenges and live their ultimate lives. (7Mindsets.com) 7 Mindsets also targets 10 Social and Emotional Learning Competencies for students. The program is designed to intentionally develop these competencies: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, Decision-Making, Resilience, Growth Mindset, Empathy, Cultural Competence, and Hope.
Students have been struggling with the transition back to school-academically, socially, and emotionally. It is our sincere hope that by implementing this program, along with Take Care Thursday and Rhithm, that it will help your child in all aspects of their student life and personal life. Look for more information to come on this program and more!
