"Together We Can"
From Ms. Butler's Desk
Dear Knight Family,
We had a great week last week. I want to shout out our amazing PTO for all of their hard work putting on sweet treat and hot lunch. This week is pretty calm; however, I have a few reminders.
Dress Code
The weather has cooled down and I've noticed a few dress code infractions.
1. Hoodies. Hoodies are not allowed to be worn at school. No exceptions.
2. Undershirts and leggings: scholars are allowed to wear long sleeve shirts and leggings under their uniforms. They should be plain and color coordinate with the school's uniform.
3. Boots: scholars are not allowed to wear boots. The appropriate footwear are athletic shoes that are black, white maroon or gray with 10% of another color. A few examples of appropriate shoes are a Converse Classic Chuck Taylor, Van or Nike Air Force 1.
4. Outwear: scholars can wear any kind of coat outside at recess , PE, upon arrival and departure. Scholars can only wear TWCA sweaters and jackets inside the building. I will also allow a plain colored sweater or jacket that color coordinates with the school uniform. Scholars may also wear the TWCA spirit sweatshirt over their TWCA uniform shirt.
Covid-19 Reminders
As you know, Covid-19 numbers are on the rise. Please remember to monitor yourself and others for symptoms for Covid-19 to help keep yourself and those you love safe.
Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have Covid-19:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
Re-Enrollment Reminder
I'm so pleased with the numbers of forms we have collected. As of today 89% of all scholars have submitted their transfer form. If you haven't returned your form, the deadline is Friday, January 28, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. If your scholar is not going to another RES school, please send an e-mail to Mrs. Dowell at SDowell@ResponsiveEDTX.com, so she can document your future plans. If you have any questions, please call the main building front office at 936.242.1541.
Assessments
This week Kinder-2nd grade scholars will be finishing Amplify testing and begin NWEA Map testing. This test will show how well your child has progressed in their reading since the beginning of the school year. Any 3rd-8th grade scholars who missed their middle of the year NWEA Map Test will makeup testing this week. 3rd-8th grade scholars received their interim assessment results from December. Please review your child's results. Amplify and Map test results will be sent home on or before the first week of February .
JH Basketball Game--
Tuesday, January 25; our JH Girl's and Boy's basketball team will be playing at Quest Collegiate Academy. Tip off will be at 6:00 pm.
School Dismissal Manager--Register
If you have not set up your SDM account, the time to do so is now. Carline moves quicker when parents check into carline rather than waiting for a staff member to sign them in. I have an article below to assist you with setting up your account. For elementary carline parents, please sign in at the middle of the parking lot. For JH carline parents, please sign in at the side gate on your right. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. If you need help with SDM, contact Mrs. Kim Lucas at klucas@responsiveedtx.com or 936-242-1541.
Doctor’s Note after an Absence for Illness
If your child is out due to an illness that extends beyond three days will require a doctor’s note. Upon return to school, a student absent for more than three consecutive days because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s extended absence from school. Otherwise, the student’s absence may be considered unexcused and if so, would be in violation of compulsory attendance laws.

School Dismissal Manager--Update
Apple and Android Apps Have Returned!
Brought back by popular, parent demand to the Apple and Android app stores, we have added native apps for an efficient, streamlined, and familiar SDM experience.
SDM native apps are available for parents to download from the Apple and Android app stores, in addition to the PWA which started off the school year. With all three options available, along with the mobile website, parents now have more choices than ever to choose the option that works best for them and their device!
We hope that this much-anticipated return to the app stores becomes a great asset to your parents as they continue to use SDM to manage daily dismissal changes. Please let us know if you have any questions or need any assistance and have a great week!
Regards,
The SDM Management Team

January Character Virtue--Compassion

Habit 4: Think Win Win
Understanding the Habit
Think Win-Win is the belief that everyone can win. It's not me or you—it is both of us. It is a belief that there are enough good things for everyone; it is an abundant way of thinking. Think Win-Win is being happy for others when good things happen to them.
