Industrialization
The Sherman Anti-trust act is a good example of political industrialization. The Sherman Antitrust act was the first federal act that outlawed monopolistic business practices in 1890. This was good for America to stop the monopolistic practices because it eliminated other businesses that were scamming people on items by their prices. This humiliates me that people thought it was more important for business and money than their fellow society citizens.
The California Gold Rush is a good example of industrialization economic. The California Gold Rush was when James W. Marshall discovered a gold nugget in American River. Marshalls discovery brought lots of immigrants to California which changed the economy greatly. I am happy Marshall found this gold nugget in this river because it helped people and immigrants make a new life in America.
New machinery is a good example of industrialization social/cultural. New machinery like the machine gun changed the way of war. It changed not only war for the United States but the world. It helped take enemies down at a faster rate.
Immigration
The Chinese exclusion act is a good example of immigration political. The Chinese exclusion act was the first law implemented to prevent a specific race from entering. Lots of Chinese propaganda was made during this, 1882. Its a shame America did this because it was a very cruel part of history.
The Klondike Gold Rush is a good example of immigration economics. It is located during North West Canada, the Yukon. During 1896-1899 it brought in an estimated 100,000 migrants. I am happy that this changed the economy and helped the people within the Yukon.
Assimilation is an excellent example of immigration social/cultural. Assimilation of immigrants was also called a "melting pot". This led to Americanization which is the process of an immigrant to the United States of America becoming a person who shares American values, beliefs and customs and is assimilated into American society. I'm happy for this because I have gotten some of my traits from people who aren't from America.
Urbanization
Plessy vs Ferguson was a good example of political urbanization in 1896. Plessy vs Ferguson was the United States supreme decision of upholding the constitutionality of state laws to require racial segregation in public. It humiliates me and deeply saddens me that America thought it was OK to separate people due to the color of their skin.
Tenement housing were a prime example of economic urbanization poverty. They were run down and extremely over crowded apartments. People had to live there because the city could not keep up with all the immigrants coming into America. It is depressing to know that people had to live in unhealthy conditions because we could not keep up with them.
New immigrants were a good example of immigration social/cultural. New immigrants brought over their religions and ways but also adapted and took on our ways and culture. I think this was cool because we have allot of holidays now that we wouldn't of had if they didn't come. A example would be Cinco de Mayo.
Progressivism
The 16th amendment is a good example for political progressivism. The 16th amendment by Taft allows the congress to levy an income tax without appointing it. This money helps build roads and bridges, take care of schools, enforce law, and military. Im glad that the 16th amendment automatically deducts money out of ones check because if not, some people in society might not pay their taxes.
The meat inspection act of 1906 was a good example of economic progressivism. Meat inspection act worked to eliminate meat products being sold if unsanitary or slaughtered under bad conditions. We still have similar inspections today and food places can get shut down if sanitary requirements aren't met. Im proud and happy to say that we took the necessary actions to make sure our food is up to healthy standards and our citizens wont get sick because of that.
Gender inequality is an example of social / cultural progressivism. Gender inequality led to the creation of the 19th amendment. Although, sometimes even today people will not recognize it and are considered sexist. I believe that it is sad that the United States had to make an amendment making women to be equal to men, and even still are mistreated sometimes. But, I am happy to say the United States has came far from the role society use to have for a normal woman. Women can work just like a man, if she wanted to.
Imperialism
A example of political imperialism is the big stick ideology/policy. This refers to if one didn't agree the more significant has the military or the "big stick" to force you. This is upsetting to me that someone can force you to do something just because they had more power. That was very wrong.
Quote: "Speak softly, and carry a big stick."
The Dollar Diplomacy by William Taft is a good example of economic imperialism. Dollar Diplomacy was the use of economic power by guaranteeing loans to foreign countries. I don't think the Dollar Diplomacy was good, but I don't think it was very bad either. Taft was using the economic resources so I believe it was fair to an extent.
A good example of imperialism social / cultural would be Hawaii. Hawaii was forced to adopt our culture to an extent after we removed their queen. Their queen was named Liliuokalani and died on November 11, 1917. It is wrong for the United States to over through the monarch, although Hawaii was a small enough addition to the United States it makes it perfect so Hawaii isn't alone anymore.
World War I
The Treaty of Versailles was a prime example of a political event in World War I. The Treaty of Versailles was the treaty to end WWI and impacted Germany to lose territories. Territories including Austria-Hungary and Ottoman Empire. Im proud we ended World War I and settled everything out without it going on longer.
World War I also had a battle for economic supremacy. Germany had interest in gaining colonies for cheap materials which resulted in conflict with France. Germany is humiliating because they only considered themselves and it resulted in conflict.
In 1914 we went to war believing In heroism and nobility. But, due to the social effects of others, trench warfare had people's feelings changed to anger and disbelief. It spread quick among the soldiers. Im proud to say many American soldiers died, suffered and sacrificed through harsh conditions and pain even possibly receiving a disease called trench foot. Just for their country. Although, This brought little gain, there was allot of nobility in doing so.
Quote: "great sacrifice had brought little gain"
